Kevin Durant snubs Deadpool-Wolverine hype—Is he right to focus solely on basketball?

Marvel fans are as excited as they could be with the Deadpool & Wolverine finally out in theatres. The release clashed with the Olympics as they kick off in a day’s time. That being said, Team USA is approaching game day and things are getting quite serious. Kevin Durant, the injured 7-footer is yet to give an update on his return with the the first game scheduled on Sunday. While the squad gets all serious and game-ready, one Marvel fan on Twitter couldn’t get his excitement on hold.

Steph and KD posted a selfie which was shared by Team USA recently on Twitter. Under one of Durant’s comments, a Marvel fan casually asked if KD is excited to watch Deadpool & Wolverine. Of course, KD being himself put his team and country first saying, “We got a game biz, lock in man”. He couldn’t have said it better, showing how ready he is for the Olympics. And why not? Kevin will be making a run for his fourth gold medal this year.

While he is already a three-time Olympic gold medalist and will become the only male basketball player with four Olympic golds. As the opening ceremony kicks off tomorrow, Durant’s status should be finalized. The games will be worth watching with Steph, KD, and James sharing the ball. If KD is available to play in the game against Serbia, the Slim Reaper will not be starting, instead he will come off the bench. But that would be manageable for Team USA, keeping their all-time leading scorer’s health at the utmost priority.

Still, Kevin Durant has only given positive replies when asked about his injury. He seems quite confident and ready to play, but Steve Kerr plans to take steady steps in ensuring his comeback. Regardless, KD’s recent fan interaction should be a relief to Kerr. Although he is coming off an injury, KD is super confident and ready to take on the Serbians on Sunday.

How much of an impact can we expect from Kevin Durant?

For starters, KD will be a serious threat on the floor. Yes, he’s coming off an injury and will also come off the bench, still his presence as a scorer will be something to look out for. If KD joins the second unit initially, he will still be as effective alongside Tatum and Edwards. As the tournament approaches the quarter-final round, Durant should be back in full swing, starting with Steph and James. The final lineup should be out by today and Durant will be a part of it.

Have an interesting take?

He certainly does not want to miss the opportunity to win his fourth gold medal. Moreover, this will be the only time he’d play with his former teammate and LeBron James. It is one of the greatest rosters to have ever existed in Team USA’s history. KD is well aware of the stakes and is looking to set a tone as soon as he comes back.
