Durant's bold fashion debut: A game-changer or a risky move against Nike?

Kevin Durant is making waves both on and off the court. While questions linger about his readiness for the upcoming games, Durant has already scored big with his latest venture – a fashion collaboration with Kith celebrating the 2024 Paris Olympics.

When the Suns’ star appeared at practice with the national team, the NBA community hoped that coach Steve Kerr had found a solution for a better starting unit combination. However, as soon as the press inquired about Durant’s status for the game, Kerr cautiously replied, “We’ll see”. Clearly, the 14x NBA All-Star has recovered enough for some movements but not enough to contribute on the court with Team USA. Instead, Durant has been continuously making headlines off-court. Following the release of his KD 17 shoe line’s new design with Nike, Durant has now become the face of Kith’s USA Basketball 2024 campaign.

Celebrating the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, Kith launched a collection of hoodies, shorts, t-shirts, jackets, and sweatpants. The unique appeal of the apparel lies in its retro-themed graphics on classic Kith silhouettes. Durant showcased a leather jacket, a white sweatshirt, and a white hoodie. The most enchanting piece was the leather jacket, custom-built with Italian Nappa leather, adorned with Team USA-themed graphics, stars, and red and white stripes echoing the team’s jersey colors.

Kith will officially launch the collection on July 20 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Paris, France. Interestingly, Kevin Durant‘s collaboration with Kith comes shortly after a surprising development with Nike: his omission from their latest Paris Olympics campaign video.

Nike disappointed Kevin Durant, omitting him from their 2024 Olympics campaign advertisement!

When Nike released their Olympic-themed video ad featuring legendary basketball athletes, many expected Durant to be included, given his lifelong contract with Nike signed in 2023. However, the video featured LeBron James and rookie star Victor Wembanyama, among other American athletes, but not Durant. This unexpected exclusion raised eyebrows within the NBA community and prompted a reaction from Durant himself.
