Kevin Durant has a quiet personality. Be it on the floor or off. The rare circumstances he does speak up or speak out are when the situation calls for it. Or the ‘Slim Reaper’ has reached the end of his patience. A recent incident was his rebuttal against ESPN’s Woj, for contributing his take on a possible Phoenix Suns exit.

The since-deleted Instagram post had already gone viral for his clear frustration at everyone else being so sure of his thoughts. After the 113-129 win tonight against the Houston Rockets, KD elaborated on a different aspect of speaking his mind.

While the Houston win might have provided a slight relief, the Suns are far from being comfortable. In fact, the above-mentioned rumors grew from certain moments where KD had shown his frustration on-court. But in the post-game presser, he said, “[I] Try to talk with my actions… I make mistakes too. Sometimes it’s hard to have a conversation with somebody when I just fucked up.”

His actions were certainly on proud display tonight. Along with climbing to the 92nd position in the All-Time assists list, KD finished with a triple-double. With him and Devin Booker taking charge to end their three-game skid, the energy seemed to affect the rest of their teammates as well.

Next to Durant, Eric Gordon shined in the Houston-Phoenix matchup. Tied in points made with Kevin Durant, Gordon had 27 points and one assist. Booker followed behind with 20 points, seven assists, and four rebounds. Grayson Allen added 16 points, three assists, and four rebounds of his own to seal the deal.

Looking at the turnovers Arizona had (19), it was quite obvious that they were struggling to stick to the game plan. But that’s when the team leaders step in. Trusting in their gut and following their lead, the Suns came together with the single-minded goal of ending their three-game skid. “Everybody came in with that sense of urgency we wanted to end this little slide that we’ve been on, and you could tell it by everybody’s approach,” Durant said proudly after the game.

While Jusuf Nurkić didn’t have the night his fellow mates did, KD didn’t forget to give props to the big man for his efforts. After all, the screens set by Nurkić and other big men of the Suns are what provided a rhythm for the scorers. Hopefully, they can continue playing with this sense of urgency going forward as well.
