Kevin Durant in cannabis—smart move or just following LeBron's footsteps? What's your take?

No matter how much fans wage war in the NBA vs NFL debate, there’s no stopping hoopers from getting in on the excitement. The NFL season kicked off and the madness just began. Now Count Kevin Durant in on that madness. The NBA ace dives into the fantasy football discussion. LeBron James is already a big part of this, with his DraftKing collaboration. You’ve probably seen the Lakers star making NFL picks multiple times last season. Now it’s time for Kevin Durant to do the same as he follows LeBron’s footsteps to join the US sports betting market.

In a video uploaded by Fanduel Sportsbook and shared by Kevin Durant, the Slip Reaper announced his latest business move, joining Fanduel. The Suns forward will now be making picks before NFL games as he discussed his team-up with the company. “Just partnered with FanDuel. Excited to be here, man, and show how much bias I have for my commanders. Pick some NFL games. Have some fun,” KD said in the video.

Kevin Durant’s Boardroom, a sports business media network, signed a multi-year partnership with Fanduel in 2022, but this one is KD’s individual venture. The sports betting industry has a projected market volume of $14.3bn in 2024, with average revenue per user estimated at around $380. The details of the deal with Fanduel have been kept under wraps, but affording KD isn’t cheap. The savvy business mind of the 2-time NBA champion has helped him amass a $300 million net worth and this deal can certainly boost that a bit more.

Despite his newly found involvement in fantasy football, Kevin Durant has stayed loyal to his favorite team, the Washington Commanders. And while discussing this with Kay Adams, he fired a shot at the disloyal ones.

KD has consistently been a true leader in every sense. Born and raised in Washington, Durant found his love in football through the franchise, so it understandably pains him to see his favorite side struggling in the league. The Commanders only made it to the playoffs twice in the past ten seasons. But not everyone from Washington has stayed loyal as many fans jumped ship to the Dallas Cowboys, a team KD hates with passion.

“I think it’s because a lot of people where I’m from in D.C. have become Cowboys fans. I just hate that they don’t stay loyal to the crib,” Durant said when asked about the team he dislikes. He further added that those fans who’ve betrayed their team should stay on the other side once the Commanders shine again. “They’re going to have to stay on that side. We’re not letting them back in,” Durant claimed.

While his team isn’t enjoying success, KD is fresh off his success in Paris and heading for a crucial season with the Suns. After last year’s early playoff exit, this season will be a new opportunity for him to add to his legacy and prove a lot of doubters wrong.
