Was the crowd's unruly behavior justified after the referee's shocking decision at the Texas game?

Wild scenes in Texas! All eyes were on the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium as the Longhorns hosted the Bulldogs in a highly awaited matchup. With no losses, the home team aimed to keep their winning streak alive. But things quickly went south when the visitors took a 23-point lead in the first half! Fans were already agitated because of the score and a controversial call in the third quarter had them reach their boiling point. Surprisingly, 2 Suns hoopers were also in attendance while the home crowd delayed the game with their shocking behavior.

Yes, with the NBA preseason over and a few days before the regular season tips off, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker were spotted in Texas enjoying live football action. Obviously, before KD became a world-renowned basketball sensation, he was a player for the Longhorns himself! And like a passionate alumnus, he was standing on the field, watching the game closely from the sidelines, after also confidently rooting for them (-4.5) during his appearance on ‘Up & Adams’ on Friday.

Meanwhile, Book was also sitting very close to the action and looked fully invested in the ongoing clash. Unfortunately, this might not have been the best night for the two stars to attend the game. During the second half, Texas star Jahdae Barron intercepted Carson Beck. But the referee deemed it a pass interference from Barron, nullifying the interception.

Sure enough, the crowd was not pleased with the decision and made it rain! Rain with all kinds of trash thrown onto the field, from water bottles to empty cans. The chaos led to the game being delayed for several minutes. While the mess was being cleaned, the officials discussed and unexpectedly overturned the initial call, deeming it a fair interception by Barron.

Just minutes later, the Longhorns cut the lead down to eight points. However, while the Texas side ended up losing the game anyway, it was surely a memorable night for KD and Booker because of everything that transpired.

Even though the night turned into chaos and KD saw his alma mater’s winning streak end, Booker seems to have enjoyed his experience. In his Instagram story, he shared a beautiful image from the stadium, of the light show that took place last night with ‘Texas’ written in the skies.

Moreover, the Suns star also got the opportunity to meet actor Matthew McConaughey, who was present in the arena to support his hometown team. “There’s no time for lull. There’s no time for exhale. We obviously will not need to be hyped up. We will be way up for this game,” McConaughey had said before the game.
