“Hey! We’re a f——g team. Pass the f—–g ball to Royce. He’s wide open.” It was only a month ago that a frustrated Kevin Durant gave Jusuf Nurkic an earful midgame after the Center made a selfish play inside the paint. Is there a chemistry problem in Phoenix? Many fans were left wondering, especially after the two stars got into a heated back and forth once again during a recent game. However, amid the concerns, KD assured that there was nothing to worry about.
Addressing his recent verbal altercation with the Suns’ big man, Durant said, “A lot of fans haven’t played team sports, so they don’t understand what it’s like having that constant dialogue with a person every single day and you gotta work towards a common goal. It might look a little crazy from the outside looking in, but that’s just normal talk for us.”
Of course, with multiple egos playing on the same team in a competitive environment, there are bound to be occasional clashes. That’s exactly what happened between KD and Nurk during last month’s Mavs game. In a viral leaked audio of their on-court exchange, Durant urged the Center to “pass the ball” and also confronted him after Nurkic let his emotions get the better of him and got penalized with a technical foul. “You get frustrated and get a tech? Come on. Move past that s–t.” KD told him.

However, this is mostly how winning teams operate, by holding each other accountable. Even legends like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant were extremely harsh towards their teammates, hoping to instil a fire in them. But when the time comes, these teammates come to each other’s aid.
Jusuf Nurkic stood up for Kevin Durant during heated clash with Grant Williams
Although KD and Nurkic might not see eye to eye every single time, they are always there to support each other. Earlier this year during a game against the Mavs, Durant fell to the floor after a tussle with Grant Williams. And the now-Hornets forward tried to taunt The Slim Reaper by walking over him. However, Nurkic was not going to let his teammate get disrespected and shoved Williams away from KD.
Sure enough, both teams got into a heated altercation and all involved players got called for a technical foul. But the good thing was that it showed the chemistry between Nurkic and Durant. Obviously, fans are worried about the team chemistry right now because the Suns have lost three of their last five games. However, once they get back to their winning ways, the concerns will slowly fade away and Durant’s latest comments will be proven correct. Do you agree?
