Rihanna's courtside presence: A distraction or a boost for NBA stars like Kevin Durant?

Kevin Durant has been hailed as one of the most focused players in the NBA, considering his work ethic and introverted kind of nature on some occasions. However, the life of an NBA athlete is not easy since various celebrities and bigwigs attend these games at night. For most of them, it is more of an entertainment or publicity stunt. While others go to them for their love of the game of basketball. However, it is not always the same for the athletes since it is distracting for them as well. Recently, Durant got candid with Logan Paul about the impact of guests while he was playing on the court.

When Logan Paul asked Durant if the latter ever gets distracted when celebs come into your game on the ‘Impaulsive’ podcast, KD had an intriguing answer. “I wouldn’t say distracted but I do acknowledge them sometimes. Especially if it’s some baddies in the stands for sure.” As the chat proceeded, Logan’s co-host Mike Majlak jokingly asked about Corrina Kopf, to which KD responded in affirmation. It left Logan and his co-shot giggling when Durant further added, “When Rihanna walks in it’s hard now. It’s all the baddies bro.” Apparently, Durant was insinuating how Rihanna’s popularity makes it hard to play with the crowd.

Although it is not certain if Durant and Rihanna know each other personally. However, the Suns forward did admit back in 2011 that he had a crush on Rihanna. He wished the Barbados-born performer to be his ideal “wife” then, and the latter once wished Durant a happy birthday on Twitter. Surprisingly, it was Kevin Durant who asked Rihanna to wish him a birthday. No wonder Kevin Durant has so much admiration and need of attention from her crush.

During the 2017 NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, Rihanna went all out to support the Cavs. During Game 1, the courtside Cavs fans heckled a lot with the Dubs camp. Moreover, the spree continued at the end of Game 2 when Rihanna screamed during Game 2 to distract Kevin Durant while throwing a free throw. Though it did not trouble KD at all, it got imbibed in his mind since he was done with the courtside antics.

Finally, he retaliated to them in the fourth quarter of the game as he appeared to have stared down at Rihanna after hitting a three pointer. It came with 4 minutes left until the end of the game. The Warriors ensured their victory in that game with a 113-91 scoreline. However, the question followed Durant during the press conference after the match.

When a reporter asked Durant post-match if his glare toward Rihanna in the crowd was on purpose, Kevin Durant responded, “I don’t even remember that.” KD gave the reply with a poker face but Steph was laughing and telling him not to answer the question inappropriately. Ultimately, Durant maintained what Curry wanted and kept the decorum. What’s your favorite courtside incident of Kevin Durant? Comment down to let us learn of it.
