It’s the eighth year since the global music sensation and rapper, Kanye West, took to X with a viral tweet. Of course, this is Ye we are talking about. He is famous for meltdowns on social media. So, which viral posts are now re-grabbing everyone’s attention? The Minnesota Timberwolves one, of course. Shortly after the release of his song, “Wolves” from his seventh studio album, The Life of Pablo, the pop culture icon, tweeted “Ima fix wolves”.
Now, after the Timberwolves defeated the Denver Nuggets 98-90 to finish the series 4-3, it’s back to make its designated rounds on the internet. Pound the Rock podcast host, Joe Wolfond, took to X to bring the viral post back. “ant edwards, karl towns 2.0, rudy gobert, jaden mcdaniels, mike conley, naz reid, naw:,” he wrote. Well, it seems like the Wolves are as fixed as they ever will be. Minnesota rallied behind their explosive superstar, Anthony Edwards, to deliver a brilliant performance erasing a 20-point deficit to upset Denver at Ball Arena.

The Denver Nuggets vs Minnesota Timberwolves series was truly one of the biggest blockbuster matchups. Each time we thought tonight was the night, it would end up in a tie. And we don’t even have to go to the frenzied crowd as well as fans on social media going wild.
That’s about the shortest summary of the two teams that we can give. Going back to our music mogul, Kanye West, the 24x Grammy Award winner’s 8-year-old cryptic tweet must have raised quite a lot of eyebrows in 2016. Seeing as how pop music and basketball share a mutual love for each other, it wouldn’t have been too much of a stretch to assume the millionaire record producer might be hinting at his interest in at least being a minority owner of the franchise.
Of course, nothing like that happened. However, five years after the tweet, someone else walked into the scene with the hopes of becoming the majority owner of the Minnesota-based franchise!

A-Rod would’ve become the owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves if not for Glen Taylor’s last-minute block
It was the year 2021. Alex Rodriguez- the World Series Champion and Marc Lore- the billionaire entrepreneur, had arrived at a $1.5 billion agreement for the Wolves and Lynx franchises. The payment was to be paid in three installments – 20%-20%-40%. The final 20% would be with the current owner, Taylor, and other investors. Those were happy times.
However, it didn’t last long. Lore and A-Rod paid 40% of the total amount, with the final 40% to be paid this March. In a sudden turn of events, Glen called the deal off, citing the reason as stipulated conditions not being met. That left the 14x MLB All-Star and his entrepreneur partner with a minority stake in the Wolves, while the majority (60%) were still with Taylor.

Although this was chaotic news for Minnesota fans, it naturally wasn’t the case for the other two. Vowing to continue the legal battles, the Minnesota ownership drama continues amidst the success of the organization, now valued at close to $3 billion. Whatever Ye had in mind when posting the viral tweet remains a mystery. But Alex Rodriguez is very clear on what he wants. And how far he will go to get it.
Here’s to hoping he won’t be in for any more surprises.
