The wait is over! It has been nearly nine months since Kawhi Leonard played in an NBA game. Of course, he was ruled out indefinitely before the season even began. The reason? A lingering right knee injury that has been bothering him since last year. However, it looks like The Klaw is finally ready to return to action and he is expected to make his season debut tomorrow.

Yes, as per veteran insider Chris Haynes, Kawhi is likely to suit up for tomorrow’s Hawks encounter. Haynes added, “I’m told he’s feeling good. He wants to go tomorrow.” Obviously, the Clippers will be cautious about the superstar’s return and it would be a game time decision.

Well, there were signs that Kawhi was nearing his return when Ty Lue revealed that the forward would not travel with the team on their recent three game road trip. “He’ll stay back and he’ll practice with our G League team.” The head coach remarked. Turns out, Leonard practiced with the San Diego Clippers over the weekend to get some reps in to help his progress.

That’s a great way of getting off the rust because the last time he was in a competitive environment was in April last year during the playoff series against the Mavs. Moreover, he only played in two of the six games in that series. Of course, Kawhi will have the support of the crowd if he makes his season debut tomorrow because the game will be played in Intuit Dome. And they would love to have their superstar back 34 games into the season. Even Kawhi looks excited to hit the hardwood again.

Another reason to believe that Kawhi could finally be on the court tomorrow is that he dropped a cryptic video on social media last week. Although it was a promotional video for his sneakers by New Balance, it hinted at his return when he turned on the radio in the ad and it played, “We’ve got exciting news coming out of Los Angeles. Kawhi Leonard looks to be returning to the court pretty soon.”

Kawhi surprisingly plays a double role and walks over to another version of him sitting lakeside fishing. And he says, “There’s been good days, there’s been bad days, but I keep coming back. It’s the nature of the game.” It looks like tomorrow’s potential return is what The Klaw was referring to. Obviously, that would be a massive boost for the team because Kawhi is a monster when healthy. Just last season, he averaged 23.7 points and over six rebounds.

More importantly, James Harden and Co. have kept the Clippers in the playoff race despite Kawhi’s absence. And now, they can finally make a push for the title with the two-time champ back in the lineup. What are your thoughts about Kawhi’s potential return?
