Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks, easily THE trade of the 2024 offseason. And thanks to social media, it took only a few minutes for the news to go viral. Surprisingly enough, not only the fans, but even the players sometimes get to know about their trade through social media before any communication was made by the franchise. The same happened with Karl-Anthony Towns as Big KAT (Josh Hart’s words) recently revealed some unknown details behind his trade to the Knicks.

When Matt Hillman asked KAT how soon he got to know about his unanticipated trade before Shams Charania tweeted, the 7-footer answered, “4 minutes.” The room suddenly filled with an awkward silence. “By the time the shock wore off, Shams already tweeted,” Towns said.

KAT further revealed that he didn’t get the news over a call. “They told me, Tim told me to my face that I was traded.” Both Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart together called out that “Respect.” KAT admitted that it was a “gangsta” move that his new teammates apparently respected. “I gotta give him respect (for coming over to his house) because it was me, 3 of my closest friends, and my pops. So shout out to him. He came to a house by himself with 5 dudes there who could’ve just started spazzing out and crashed out,” KAT added.

Hillman pointed out how rare it was for the players in the league to continue playing for a single team and KAT did a phenomenal job by sticking around in Minnesota for nine years. “I thought I was gonna retire there,” KAT said. “I thought it was gonna be, you know, the place I call home for my whole career and then after, but, my, former employer did not agree with that ideology I have.”

However, KAT showed optimism about doing something remarkable for the Knicks with the two teammates present in the room. It was at this moment that Josh Hart shifted the subject to his tweet following the big news.

After Towns spoke about his plans to make it big in the Big Apple with the New York side, Josh Hart asked about his X post. “You tweeted dot dot dot,” Hart said and caught KAT off guard. “Were you not excited to come hang out with us, bro? I feel like we’re nice guys,” in the most calm voice, the swingman shot the question. When the Knicks newbie confessed that he was excited to be a part of the podcast, Hart said that he just wanted to clarify.

“I just know how the world works, and, I was as stunned as everybody,” KAT opened up. “So I really just put dot dot dot because I couldn’t even come up with words to try to be the one to break my own news.” He already knew that someone was going to break the news so he didn’t mention anything as he was probably going through a flush of emotions.

All that is in the past now. With KAT in the team, the Knicks have shown stunning performances in preseason games, sending a clear threat to the 29 other franchises about what they are up to in the new season. Finally, their chances to end the championship drought are closest to it ever was.
