Kai Cenat taking a page from LeBron's book—Is this the comeback he needs after LBA 2024?

Kai Cenat recently made his professional debut in the Little Basketball Association (LBA) in Atlanta on Saturday. Though the LBA is a fictional league created by Cenat, the passionate crowd and the buzz surrounding it might make you forget that it’s all just for fun. What added to the excitement was Cenat’s announcement that he was stepping away from his streaming career to pursue this “professional” basketball path.

To make things even funnier, Kai Cenat parodied an NBA-style draft, confidently predicting he’d be a top-three pick. But in a comedic twist, he ended up being drafted last, leading to fans trolling him with comments like, “You got picked LAST in your own league!” Even Stephen A. Smith got in on the joke, mocking Kai: “You think you got a game, you think you got a game. You thought you were going to be the number three overall pick, didn’t you? You thought you were going to be number three!”

Adding to the hilarity, an infant and even Kai’s mother were drafted before him, making the moment even more embarrassing—but all in good fun. But let’s give Kai some credit. The streamer put up 8 points, 20 rebounds, and 2 blocks in a game between the Dallas Giants and NYC Skyscrapers, with Kai repping New York. However, the comedy didn’t stop there. In the first half alone, Kai racked up 4 fouls… against kids! And to top it off, he even got blocked by a kid during the game.

During the game, NBA point guard Dennis Smith Jr. of the Brooklyn Nets couldn’t help but offer some advice to Kai after his rough first-half performance. “My advice to him would be to get back to streaming,” Smith said, following Kai’s struggles on the court. Despite all the criticism and embarrassment from his first game, Kai seems more determined than ever to bounce back in the next one.

“I’m Bout to Go Watch LeBron Highlights” – Kai Cenat to Follow LeBron James’ Guilty Pleasure

Heading into his next game, Kai Cenat seems to have a game plan and shared it with the media. “I’m bout to go watch LeBron highlights. I’m about to go watch Anthony Edwards highlights. I’m bout to look up a tutorial on how to play basketball on YouTube and lock in. And how to be more aggressive on the offensive end,” Kai said.

LeBron James has admitted to doing something similar. In an interview with JJ Redick, LeBron revealed that he watches his own highlights when he needs a confidence boost. Initially, LeBron seemed a bit shy about it, saying, “I don’t just go online and look up LeBron James highlights,” but Redick assured him it’s totally normal, saying, “We all watch our own highlights on YouTube.” LeBron eventually admitted, “Of course I have.” He explained that the primary reason he does this is to break out of a slump, adding, “The number one reason to do that is when you hit a slump or whatever.

It seems Kai is taking a page from LeBron’s playbook, using this as motivation to shake off the embarrassment of his last game and come back stronger. His plan to study highlights and tutorials shows his determination to improve, and we’ll soon see how this strategy plays out for him in his next game in the league. What are your thoughts on this?
