Just when everyone thought Kai Cenat had cut ties with the basketball world, news came through that he would be part of the NBA’s expansive creator initiative. The program will consist of a new expanded Creator Cup Series and a new content-sharing network in partnership with WSC Sports. Throughout the season many creators are expected to team up with the NBA to give fans exclusive content.

As a part of this initiative, Kai Cenat will be partnering with the NBA, taking fans behind the scenes of his experience attending the New York Knicks-Boston Celtics game. Kai spoke to the media expressing his emotions. “As a lifelong fan of this league, it’s a dream come true to work with the NBA and other creators to bring more content to my supporters this season than ever before.” The streamer acknowledged his love for the league and that it is a dream come true for him.

Streamer and YouTuber Kai Cenat, a former Hooper, is the creator of the Little Basketball Association (LBA) and boasts one LBA title. After retiring from streaming to pursue his basketball dreams, Kai was projected as a promising third pick but was ultimately drafted last. Despite this, he played for the New York Sky and had a brief yet successful career, leading his team to victory over the Phoenix Towers and lifting the LBA Trophy.

With a draft that consisted of kids, polished basketball courts with an LBA logo on the center circle, professional officials, and an interactive crowd. It was really tough not to believe that it wasn’t an actual league but something that came out of Kai Cenat’s head. Right after winning the final Kai Cenat announced his retirement after an incredible professional career, and he returned to being a streamer.

What is the new creator program introduced by the NBA?

The NBA has introduced its most expansive creator program for the 2024-25 season, designed to offer fans a more immersive experience. Creators from various fields will provide behind-the-scenes coverage at major NBA events throughout the season. The initiative also includes an expanded NBA Creator Cup Series and a new content-sharing network in partnership with WSC Sports, giving fans unique insights and access to the action.

Bob Carney, NBA Senior Vice President of Social and Digital Content, highlighted the importance of creators in today’s landscape, stating, “Creators are a key part of the NBA’s content ecosystem, helping us connect with new audiences in innovative ways.” This program underscores the NBA’s commitment to engaging with fans in fresh, exciting ways they may not have experienced before.

As part of the program, the creators will be given 25,000 hours of unprecedented game footage which they can use in their videos for reactions, and educational purposes and use for increasing fan interaction. Also, the NBA and Meta will collaborate to bring creators on-site to meet and greet fans and provide hands-on demos of the Quest courtside experience. The creators will also provide courtside coverage at major NBA events.

Overall, It is a great initiative by the NBA as it gives the fans a chance to experience their favorite sport in never seen before ways. It will also attract a new set of audience while giving the existing audience more content.
