Following last season’s setback, the Golden State Warriors aimed to make a strong comeback from the pre-season. Interestingly, their journey began against a Los Angeles Lakers side that handed them misery a few months back. Identifying it as an opportunity to make a statement, Stephen Curry tweeted out his thoughts just 17 minutes before the start.

That move seemed to have backfired for the Warriors talisman as it received an unexpected reaction from the NBA world. With the superstar taking the floor after a lengthy off-season break, his words might have just diminished the hype.

After a Western Conference semi-final loss against the Lakers, the criticism against the franchise was at an all-time high. So, Stephen recognized it as a great chance to display his ambition as he wrote, “Lock in!”.

Their last matchup caught the interest of many over the NBA world as it ended the dream of the 2-time MVP. The team’s goal to retain their championship failed after a 4-2 series loss to their San Francisco rivals. So, this match was of utmost importance for the superstars of both sides due to its sheer hype amongst the viewers.

The 9-time All-Star wanted to capitalize on that but it did not go as planned. The announcement from the 34-year-old backfired as the Lakers supporters united against him. They let him know of their feelings as the 4-time champion put out a bold statement moments before facing them.

One fan reminded Curry of the team’s defeat in the last semi-finals. He mocked Stephen, saying, “Lock in for a Loss,”?claiming his side as the favorite to win the match.

Another did the same, putting LeBron James under the spotlight. He hinted at how the 4-time MVP’s heroic performances could haunt the Bay Area organization again.

The rival fanbase continued with their efforts in the replies as they kept on hitting back at Curry. They indicated a Warriors home loss in the first game of their pre-season.

One more supporter commented. “Losing soon,”?pointing at a similar fate.

Right before the game, another fan tried to warn the point guard about Jarred Vanderbilt’s defense. Referring to his tight defensive displays as “Vando vault,”?the Laker supporter demanded him to stay prepared.
