The Minnesota Timberwolves mounted an insane comeback to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies tonight. Both Julius Randle and Anthony Edwards were critical in the T-Wolves’ turnaround. So following the game, Julius was nothing but praise for his teammate as he revealed the secret to their dynamic. At the same time, their head coach Chris Finch also gave some major kudos to his team as they overcame a huge hurdle.
The T-Wolves were down by 5 points to begin the second half after going up by 6 in the first quarter. However, thanks to a 26-5 opening to the third quarter, Minnesota made its way back into the game. Following the game, Julius Randle told the press how his chemistry with Ant made things much easier for their team.
“I mean, he’s Anthony Edwards is one of one. The things that he does out there was one of one. More I got to know him, [this] season, getting to play with him, and learning his tendencies. I just try to make the game easier for him, and that can come in many different ways. The game is easier for him. He sees the ball go in and he really gets some easy buckets, like, does what he does tonight, you know, which is truly special…He makes the game easier for all of us,” Randle told the media in the locker room after the game.

Apart from this being a glowing take on Ant’s game, it also gives us a major insight into how he affects those around him. Great players don’t just make great plays, they also make those around them better. Take someone like Stephen Curry, for instance. He may be the best shooter in the history of basketball. But the way he revolutionized the point guard position was through his off-the-ball movement. In that aspect, he’s relentless. Steph constantly reads the game to open up scoring opportunities for his teammates. That’s what makes him truly elite.

And even though his methods were different, that’s what Ant did tonight. Owing to Ant’s incredible, frenetic hustle, Randle himself put up 33 points against the Grizzlies. That includes 14 points in the third quarter alone. And this all culminated in the T-Wolves looking more alive than they did even during their 5-game hot streak.
And no one was happier about all this than head coach Chris Finch. He’d criticized his team for playing a slow, lethargic style of basketball. But he revealed how delighted he was by tonight’s turnaround during the post-game press conference.

The T-Wolves were full of energy, and despite struggling in the second quarter, they defended and moved really well in the other quarters. So, following the game, Finch heaped praises on to his team for overcoming their struggles from the game before. Chris said, “We got our energy from our defense, which is was where we needed it. You know, got a couple plays that got us in a little bit in transition, and we got some great looks from three. And, you know, everybody kinda, again, took really good shots and, you know, started to snowball.”

The T-Wolves made 55% of their field goals and were able to limit the Grizzlies to only 17 points off turnovers tonight. They did really well to limit their opponents tonight, even if they struggled a little initially. So Chris Finch has every right to be delighted with his team’s performance tonight.
But next on the docket for them are the Brooklyn Nets. And if Finch, Randle, and Ant want their team to have an easier time in the Playoffs, they will do everything in their power to show the same intensity that was on display tonight!
