Jrue Holiday had one of the toughest goodbyes in the recent past. After spending three seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks and also winning a ring alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, the team traded him out ahead of this season. Notably, Holiday’s exit from the Wisconsin side wasn’t a smooth journey, it was laid out to him as a shocking surprise.
In the recently released promo of The Draymond Green Show, Holiday opened up about the excruciating phone call that he received from his agent. He said, “I’m taking a nap, I see a call from the GM and I’m like, ‘I’ll call him back’. And then 2 seconds later, my agent called me… He’s like, ‘You just got traded. You should probably call him back.”

Ahead of this season, both Boston Celtics and Bucks had multiple shocking trade updates. Similar to Jrue Holiday’s shocking phone call, ex-Celtics guard Marcus Smart also had a surprise phone call. Smart formed the Celtics’ core alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Unfortunately, he was sent out of the franchise without a heads-up. Speaking of it, Smart earlier said, “All I ask was that they could have given me a heads up or just a simple,” during a press conference.
Even though the promo video didn’t reveal the entire story behind the trade, Holiday might have also gone through similar emotions. Ironically, the Celtics and Bucks have made surprise additions to their rosters while they betrayed their trusted players. The Wisconsin side roped in Damian Lillard, while the Celts got Kristaps Porziņģis and Holiday. While Holiday’s statement in Draymond Green‘s show may open up a hidden story, the star has already opened up about the trade to the press.

Weeks after the trade, the reporters got hold of Holiday and asked him about the trade. The former Bucks star seemed unfazed by the trade as he highlighted that he has again moved to a championship-winning team.

He said, “Things have been about the same once I got traded… this is a business and from a business standpoint I’m in a very good position…win a championship.” Holiday couldn’t have asked for a better trade, as the Celtics are currently the best team in the league. Nevertheless, the upcoming podcast may open up a different story.
