The Knicks are winning, and so is their star, Josh Hart! With his first triple-double in 2024, to a new benchmark now, his transformation into a legitimate triple-double machine has been remarkable to watch. In a commanding win over last year’s NBA finalists Dallas Mavericks, Hart made sure he gets his record straight in that very game. And the reason for celebration? A 5-decade-old record of the Knicks came crashing down! The 30-year-old surpassed legendary commentator and former Knick Walt “Clyde” Frazier, who finished in 1969 with 8 triple-doubles. What better time than this to celebrate? And no better celebration than family cherishing the record.

Josh Hart etched his name in Knicks history, and March 25, 2025, will be remembered for a long. His achievement? Notching his ninth triple-double of the season with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists, but he is too humble to celebrate, not his fans! Among them was Josh Hart’s wife, Shannon Hart, who used the opportunity to send some heartwarming praise her husband’s way. On Instagram, the fashion influencer posted a clip of the 10th rebound that notched up the triple-double.

Shannon expressed her pride: “So so proud of this guy.” This was not it. The lady made sure her husband’s record reached out, and loud! This was followed by another image of the record itself, with her husband’s visual. Hart has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence this season and has become an important starter for the Knicks. While he may not himself be looking to dwell too much on the record, his wife and teammates were not on the same page.

But was it the only record that needed mention? No, for the Knicks number 3, he had to cherish a LeBron record, too! “I think I was in L.A. four or five years ago when Bron and Lonzo did it. Watching that, I’m like, that’s something that’s really dope. Now full circle, now I’m in that same situation with Kat,” Hart said. “It was really dope. It was a blessing.” Context? Josh Hart recalls being in L.A. years ago, watching LeBron and Lonzo share a memorable connection, never imagining he’d one day be in their shoes. Fast forward to now, and he’s living that same moment with Karl-Anthony Towns. More to come?

Josh Hart hands over game ball to Knicks rookie after historic triple-double

Madison Square Garden was well aware that history had been made when Hart completed his triple-double in the fourth quarter. However, just like always, Hart himself was focused on getting the win before handing over the game ball to Kevin McCullar Jr., “For me, that’s an easy decision. That record is cool and a blessing, but that record is going to get broken at some point, hopefully later rather than sooner.”

Now a veteran, it is clear that the player knows exactly how big scoring for the first time can be. Kevin McCullar Jr. returned with 2 points in 3 minutes, and Hart wanted the youngster to remember the moment: “But getting your first NBA points: No one can take that away from you. It’s important he got the game ball for that, and that’s an easy decision for me.”

Regardless, once again, Hart’s teammates and coach did the praising. Karl Anthony-Towns lauded his teammate’s determination, claiming that his sacrifices were finally showing. Head coach Tom Thibodeau had a similar take, claiming that the achievement in itself was “great.” The Knicks, of course, have a huge season to look forward to. Sitting 3rd in the East, they will now take on the Clippers, hoping for their third win on the trot.
