It takes a moment (or just a game) to shine. And dare we say it, the Chicago Bulls point guard Josh Giddey did it in style. Who would’ve thought the 22-year-old could be THIS dominant on the floor? That too, against the fresh NBA Cup champions, the Milwaukee Bucks. It seemed kind of difficult for the Bulls to pull off the game even before it began. But then, the Australian decided Saturday was perfect to hold the reins and run the show.
Doc Rivers‘ star players Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton watched Josh Giddey’s stalwart defensive denial and a mad, mad tiebreaking three-pointer that sealed the deal for Chicago. What could the Bucks do? Nothing. Who stole the show? Giddey. So much so, that even the Bucks’ veteran coach, couldn’t hold back his compliments about Chicago’s 2024 fresh recruit.
Speaking in the post-game presser Rivers said: “I thought a lot of their paint drives created threes and created points. I thought their Most Valuable Player all game was Josh Giddey. Even before he made threes. Like he didn’t even have to make a three. He just pushed the ball to the floor into the paint and just created havoc. I thought he dominated and controlled the entire game.”

Well, it was an all-Josh Giddey show at the United Center. The Melbourne-born chipped in 23 points, rebounds, 10 assists, one block, and one steal in 29 minutes during Saturday’s 116-111 victory over the Bucks. Well, there were some stellar performances from Milwaukee‘s side too. Even in Giannis Antetokounmpo’s absence, Dame Lillard registered 29 and Khris Middleton added 21 points. Meanwhile, Brook Lopez gave in with 22 points. Not a bad show at all, but it wasn’t enough to stop the force named Josh Giddey.
It’s even crazy to imagine the effect this 22-year-old has had on his rivals. His return to the court was nothing short of electrifying. After missing four games with an ankle injury, he came back with a bang. And yes, even his teammates couldn’t get enough of the wunderkind!
Chicago Bulls go all-out in praising Josh Giddey
The Bulls’ $80 million star, Lonzo Ball didn’t waste his time to applaud Giddey. He went straight to his IG Story and reposted a Chicago Bulls post stating Josh’s game stats from Saturday. Lonzo captioned: “Yessirski @joshgiddey #BigGuard.” Well, Giddey’s second triple-double of the season lit up the scoreboard. Then, with just 10 seconds left in the fourth, he sank two crucial free throws, pushing the Bulls to a four-point lead. As a result, that clutch finish snapped Chicago’s three-game losing streak.

What’s your perspective on:
Did Josh Giddey just prove he's the Bulls' secret weapon against NBA giants like the Bucks?
Have an interesting take?
“Everybody did a little bit of everything,” said Zach LaVine, who had a well-rounded 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds. “Big shot from Giddey; obviously, he played incredible with a triple-double. To come back and get a triple-double against a former NBA championship team… he’s a good player.”

As you can see, Josh Giddey’s comeback game was one to be remembered for a long time. It wasn’t just the way he played his part as a point guard, it’s also about the way he challenged the ops to go the extra mile. However, the Milwaukee Bucks did fall short of caging the energy the 22-year-old was bringing to the floor. And at the end of the day, it was the Chicago Bulls who had the last laugh.
