Joel Embiid struggles to comprehend the hate he receives, though he can sense it. “I’m probably the most hated guy in the league,” the Philadelphia 76ers star said on The Check Ball Show. “I don’t know why, ’cause I’m just cool. I don’t know what’s there to hate about me. I feel like a lot of people can relate to my story and what I’ve been through.”
Everyone knows Embiid is known for being outspoken and engaging in trash talk. Some also view him as one of the NBA’s biggest floppers, which could contribute to the perceived hate. But the question is it fair to say that he is the most disliked?
“Players more hated than Embiid, I made a list. I think Rudy Gobert is more hated than Joel Embiid, I think Draymond Green is more hated fanwise and inside the league than Joel Embiid. I think Pat Bev, especially after all his antics this last season, I think he’s more hated. I think Harden, it’s a tough one, like they are neck and neck. Ben Simmons, definitely more hated than Joel Embiid. Dillion Brooks definitely more hated than Joel Embiid. Grayson Allen, remember he did the trips, punching people in the ‘cojones’. He is definitely more hated.” Trysta listed the 7 NBA stars disliked more than Embiid on a talk show.

Despite not being the most hated, Embiid faces criticism, particularly because the 76ers have yet to advance past the second round of the playoffs. While the playoff failures are rarely his fault, some fans still blame him. Hopefully, with Paul George on the team, he can prove everyone wrong next season.
Why all the hate for Embiid?
Embiid is admirable for many reasons. He struggled with chronic foot injuries after being drafted third in the 2014 NBA draft, missing significant playing time in his first two seasons. He played just 31 games in his third season but still became one of the league’s top players. When he joined, the 76ers were among the worst teams and in the middle of rebuilding. Embiid stayed and helped turn the team around. Despite all this, he receives a lot of hate.
“I think heart of the reason he [Embiid] is hated is because he is a foul-baiter. He’s always trying to get the whistle. That’s what he is doing right now in the Olympics, it’s not working. He’s one of the most skilled dominant players in the NBA and he wants the whistle and people hate players for that. We hate Luka for that. We hate Harden for that. You are just an ergegious flopper. Number two, he plays for Philadelphia, enough said, right? The fan base stinks. They ergegious. They are aggressive.” Tracy continued. “He cries to the media for MVPs. He’s always stat-chasing. Chasing records.”
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has become one of the NBA’s most dominant offensive talents. With two scoring titles, the former MVP continues to shine. Despite the hate since joining the league, he always proves his critics wrong with his stats and records. Currently, Embiid’s focus is on helping Team USA win the gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Will the process make a comeback? Share your thoughts in the comments!
