Can the Warriors' 12-man rotation lead them to another championship, or do they need a big trade?

The Golden State Warriors made a statement last night. They defeated the reigning champions at TD Garden. The last time they played the Boston Celtics at the Garden, they were humiliated. 52 points- that was the difference. But now things have changed. Stephen Curry and Co. beat the C’s. But it looks like that isn’t good enough for Steve Kerr’s side. The head coach’s unique 12-man rotation has been paying dividends, so why try to fix something that isn’t broken?

The Warriors have surged to a 7-1 record, making them one of the hottest teams in the NBA. This strong start now ties them for the top spot in the competitive Western Conference. It’s clear they mean business this season. And, according to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, the Bay Area franchise could be looking to make a move before the Feb. 6 trade deadline.

Despite the team’s strong roster, Windy believes Golden State remains a top candidate for ‘a big trade’. “They tried to trade for LeBron James last trade deadline. I know it was one of the most amazing stories reported last year, that those trade talks went down. OK, that didn’t happen. Then they tried to trade for Paul George. Then they tried to trade for Lauri Markkanen. This is a team that’s got an itchy trigger finger trying to make a big deal.”

Brian was asked if there were any players he believed the Warriors might pursue, but the veteran suggested we’ll have to “wait and see.” Still, he firmly stated that Golden State should be on everyone’s radar as the season progresses.

The bigger question remains—can they maintain their strong start, and will it satisfy Mike Dunleavy?

Can the Golden State Warriors lure the Greek Freak ?

Obviously this news has garnered a lot of attention, and fans have been making some wild guesses. One user commented, “Nah I think we chillin rn“, the Warriors are already seeing success and have all of their draft picks moving forward. They also rank first in bench points, averaging 59.4 per game, the most in the NBA this season. With a talented group of young players—Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, Brandin Podziemski, and Trayce Jackson-Davis—they are in a strong position.

Another user chimed in with his suggestion “Embiid to the warriors in a wild 3 team trade. Let’s choose chaos“. Well, this isn’t the first time anyone has thought about this. Even Bleacher Report tried to make this hypothetical trade a popular narrative in their suggestions to the community. But the Warriors would have to give away a lot of players along with their prized draft picks. And also with Embiid probably “never” playing back-to-backs, it would seem like the Warriors would be the one in loss from that trade.

Another netizen commented, “Giannis need to come to the Warriors”. The Warriors have been serious about wanting Giannis Antetokounmpo. They tried to get him in 2020. And with things looking not so good at the Milwaukee Bucks, chasing another NBA championship might lead him away from the team that picked him 15th overall back in 2013. But his leadership has raised questions. He has gotten everything he wanted at Bucks, new coach, Damian Lillard. Everything but no results. He could look to bail out from there.

Another user said, “All they need is a big man and we’re good get Javale McGee“. Toward the end of the regular season last year, Trayce Jackson-Davis took over as the Warriors’ starting center, replacing Kevon Looney. After a standout rookie year, the 24-year-old now holds the starting spot in the Warriors’ lineup, at the very least securing a spot in the center rotation.

The Warriors could package Looney’s $8 million guaranteed contract in a trade. With the acquisition of 24-year-old Quinten Post on a two-way deal, the Warriors gained a true 7-footer who adds floor spacing with his shooting ability. But what if the Warriors want an immediate solution? One Golden State fan was excited, they said “Curry for a 5th ring?” the Warriors definitely look good right now.

On a hot start and with the 12-man rotation working, if they could add another star, who knows, the Warriors can be champions again.
