Difficult decisions and sacrifices are indispensable when NBA teams are trying to win championships. However, the Philadelphia 76ers have taken a strange approach with that in mind. Like he said pre-season, Joel Embiid didn’t appear in the first possible back-to-back games. Furthermore, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey have both suffered injuries thus far. In terms of the selection of talent at hand, the Sixers may be among the best. Still, all of them, starting from Embiid only care about winning a title. But is the environment right for it?
In preseason, Paul George suffered an ailment. Later, Joel Embiid’s debut got delayed due to his three-game suspension for ‘shoving’ a journalist. The narrative around the team has become detrimental to their hindsight according to Draymond Green. “It’s over for Philly before it even started,” he says.
He doesn’t doubt their talent. But with the culmination of talent and the fact that no one on the roster barring Lowry knows what it takes, the defensive stalwart can’t see a way out.

“They in a tough spot, man, because now everything Joel do, everything he say is going to be picked apart, and it just makes everything that much tougher… So you don’t know how to win a championship, and now you got to deal with all the extracurricular and all the extra things that coming with a team in a spot that’s won a championship, and y’all don’t even know how to do it. And you got to do it with that weight on your shoulder? Man, that’s hard, man,” the Warriors forward said on The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis.
His co-host also agreed. Davis, a former Warrior, felt the scrutiny from the media brought “depressing energy” to the 76ers. Moreover, he compared them to a popular television series. “They have the most unfocused energy and cloud around them right to where it’s like ‘Okay, we’re going to turn the Philadelphia 76ers into this year’s Desperate Housewives. This is where all the drama is going to exist. We don’t know what’s going on. You know what I mean? So like we’re not talking about Philly about hooping right now.”
So far, nothing is working for Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers
It’s still early on to assess the season. The Sixers have only played 11 games and are yet to have their best lineup feature. Fate has played a twisted trick on them. Maxey, Embiid, and George have never been on the same floor before. That’s probably the principal cause of concern from a synergy and connectivity standpoint.

But their management of the MVP-caliber center could also serve as a burden. After missing the first 9 games with injury management and suspension, Philly needs to bring some consistency to their season. To be concise, they need to start winning. Embiid’s first game didn’t reflect his best performance, still trying to get his feet under him. And to do so, it’s important for him to keep playing.
As the domineering center said, that decision is with the organization after he publicly said he wanted to play against the undefeated Cavaliers.
So far, without much of their star power aligning, the Sixers allow opponents to shoot the fifth-best percentage from three and the highest field goal percentage at 49.3%. The Pelicans have half their starting lineup injured and have still done a better job. With a 2-9 record at present, each game holds high value for their season.

It’s understandable that they may wish to divert their attention to the postseason and do the bare minimum in the prior months. However, with losses accumulating with such regularity, the franchise can’t stick to its plans. Their offense is yet to settle. The Sixers average the third least points in the NBA right now. Additionally, aside from Maxey, Joel Embiid and George’s participation hasn’t been consistent.
The fear of fully missing out on the playoffs is currently in front of them. How do you think the Sixers can get back on track? Let us know your views in the comments below.
