Since joining the Golden State Warriors, Jimmy Butler has not had anything but a positive impact, and this does not just go on the court but in the locker room. Butler has managed so far to win over many with his abilities as a playmaker as well as a leader. The latest is his bond with rookie Quinten Post, and it’s a basketball connection, but it’s not limited to that, according to Cassidy Hubbarth of ABC.
It seems also that their friendship was fueled by Butler’s private property in Amsterdam. Plans are already set for the Warriors to begin training together this offseason, setting up a lasting relationship for these two.
While Butler is best known for his fierce mentality and relentless work ethic, his ties to Amsterdam might come as a surprise to some. The six-time All-Star has a home in the Dutch capital, the same city where Quinten Post was born and raised. This unique connection has given them a natural bond, with Butler openly expressing admiration for the young forward. “That’s my dog. You know, we both basically from Amsterdam. I used to live and work out over where he was, where he played at first. So I got a lot of love for him. And he plays so incredibly hard and hella smart and can shoot the hell out of it. I like young fella.“

That’s not just a compliment, Butler is investing in Post’s development. The two already are architects of a potentially glorious plan: To train together in Amsterdam this summer, an offseason that, although not ideal at its completion, could benefit the players and the team as a whole.
Jimmy Butler’s Leadership Making an Impact
As soon as he arrived in Golden State, Jimmy Butler took on that role as a leader. Butler has been an incredible addition to the team since he joined on Feb. 8, 2025, averaging 16.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game, and leading the Warriors to a 7-1 stretch since.
The value he brings is his ability to mentor younger players like Post is an area that is often overlooked. Dutch rookie, who now stands on a two-way contract after starting great, has quickly cemented himself with a full-time roster spot. In addition, post is scoring 8.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while connecting on 41.3% of his threes. The 18 points he scored in a recent 121-115 win over Orlando on 7 of 9 shooting from the floor reminded us that Post can be an impact player.

With the Warriors still fighting for playoff positioning, Jimmy Butler’s role continues to grow. His presence has already silenced doubters, with even Stephen A. Smith admitting he “was wrong” about questioning the fit. The fact that Butler is willing to take Post under his wing and train with him in Amsterdam only reinforces his commitment to elevating this Warriors team beyond just this season.
For Golden State, this is exactly the type of leadership they need. Jimmy Butler’s mentorship is helping develop Quinten Post, strengthening its depth, and laying the groundwork for the team’s long-term success. And if their offseason training in Amsterdam helps Post take another leap next season, Butler’s impact on the Warriors will extend far beyond just his own performances.
