For a brief moment, it seemed like Jimmy Butler had moved on from how things ended in Miami and fully embarked on a new journey with the Warriors. After all, he has looked incredible since the trade, winning seven of his first eight games. And he finally has his “joy back.” But Jimmy’s past continues to haunt him as he finds himself in major legal trouble over some serious accusations from a South Florida company, Five Star Marketing and Promotions, Inc.

Turns out, the company has filed a civil lawsuit in Miami-Dade County, accusing the Warriors star of causing over $100,000 in damages to a Miami Beach house he was leasing while he was playing for the Heat. The accusations also state that Butler failed to pay $260,000 in rent, as he continued to live in the property as a “holdover tenant” even after the expiration of the two-year lease on August 10, 2024. The former Heat forward allegedly refused to pay two months of holdover rent, breaching the lease agreement with Five Star.

Talking of the damages, Jimmy has been accused of failing to maintain the property’s facilities, including the air-conditioning unit and swimming pool. As per the lawsuit, Butler left the house in “complete disrepair due to misuse, neglect and waste.” The South Florida company claims that there was a neglected leak in the air-conditioning unit, causing the growth of “extensive amount of mold” forcing them to replace the hardwood floor and ceiling.

Moreover, the swimming pool was allegedly in terrible condition with “overgrown algae and other debris” in it, leading to the pool pumps breaking and requiring replacement. The suit also claims that Five Star attempted to enter the house to repair the damages, but access was prevented by Butler’s chief of staff. The six-time All-Star allegedly even got the locks changed, further making it difficult for the company to enter the home and perform necessary maintenance.

As per the lawsuit, Jimmy finally left the house when he received the letter demanding payment for the damages caused to the property. But he allegedly refused to pay despite the lease agreement stating that it was the tenant’s obligation to pay for repair. Unfortunately for Butler, this lawsuit has sparked a chain of more accusations against him.

Soon after the lawsuit news became public, well renowned South Florida Sports Lawyer, Darren Heitner, tweeted, “I had to file a grievance against Jimmy Butler on 2 separate occasions for not paying his agent commissions. Same guy.” Yes, he accused the Warriors forward of not paying commission to his agent. However, Heitner declined to comment when Front Office Sports approached him about it.

Although these allegations are yet to be proven, this is surely not a good look for Jimmy’s reputation. Especially with how things ended between him and the Heat. Even toward the end of his tenure, he was suspended indefinitely for violating team policies. Moreover, this legal dispute could affect Butler’s performance on the court and halt the momentum he has gained in the Bay Area. What are your thoughts about the lawsuit against Jimmy?
