The Great Jimmy Butler trade drama is over. Now, it’s only up and onwards for Big Face Butler. But the media doesn’t seem to let him go easily. Well, we all know what happened over the last few weeks in Vice City and things spiraled out after the 35-year-old said he wasn’t having “fun”, playing for the Heat. Following that controversial statement, the star forward went through multiple suspensions and, most importantly, struggled to land a team, tangled up in a high-octane trade drama.

But it all had to end at some point, and it did. Butler got what he wished for, a trade out of the Heat. Along with that, he got an upgrade. He declined the $52 million player option with the Miami side and signed a two-year contract for $121 million with the Warriors. Initially, trade reports suggested Butler had ended negotiation with the Dubs, saying he wasn’t interested in an extension. But the desperation got the better of both parties.

Here we’re now, Jimmy Butler’s first presser as a Dubs star. The reporters may have so much to ask about the veteran’s future with the Dubs, but there’s a lot to be answered about the franchise he carried to the NBA Finals twice in four years. “I don’t have anything to say. I’m good. Everything is behind me,” said Butler, cheekily dodging all the controversial questions.

But there’s only so long he can keep digging the bullets. And finally, he answered. “I am straight. I don’t got too many bad things to say about them. They gave me the opportunity. I felt like I did my to the highest level. I have so much respect for that organization, for the people who are running the organization, my former teammates. …I have a lot of love for a lot of people over there… I just want them to know I’m very grateful for the relationships I’ve built and hope to keep for a lifetime,” Butler ended his short emotional note on a happy note.

But the reporter wasn’t done with the 6x All-Star. No sooner had he finished than she pounced, asking why he had to leave Miami at all. The star paused for a bit and said, “That’s a good question, actually… I don’t know, maybe there was a lot of talking back and forth and sooner or later, the talking has to stop,” a sense of longing evident in the brief smile he offered.

Even after this, the reporters didn’t take the hint. They wanted to know more about the Phoenix Suns trade drama.

Did Jimmy Butler make the right move leaving the Heat, or is he chasing a lost cause?

Jimmy Butler and the Phoenix Suns trade saga

The moment Jimmy Butler made himself publicly available at the trade market, the Suns emerged as the possible destination. Notably, he didn’t openly say he wanted to head to the Valley. He did don a sneaker that resembled the Suns’ color code. At the same time, the conditions were all favorable for the trade.

The Suns weren’t thrilled with Bradley Beal, who was having a rough season, and Butler wasn’t happy with the Heat. Moreover, both players shared an average annual salary around the $50 million mark. However, things didn’t get through, as Beal, with the no-trade clause, wasn’t ready to leave Phoenix.

Later, with only hours remaining before the trade deadline, many trade reports suggested Butler would head to the Suns in a three-team deal involving the Dubs where KD would reunite with the Warriors. Unfortunately, it didn’t get through either as Durant blocked it.

Finally, Jimmy Buckets had to land in San Francisco. Tonight, when the reporters asked about the drama, he simply said, “The best part about everything is I never say anything, so nobody knows what is actually going on.” As the star pointed out, all we hear about the trade is only through reports which may not turn into a reality all the time.
