Home/NBA

The recently concluded WNBA matchup between the Dallas Wings and the Los Angeles Sparks saw the latter team recording their third win of the season. Along with Dearica Hamby and Lexie Brown, 22-year-old star rookie Cameron Brink came out on top by securing 10 points, 10 rebounds and 1 assist to her name. She delivered an impressive performance, not knowing that a surprise gesture was awaiting her after the conclusion of the game.

As Brink was heading away from the Crypto.com Arena court, she encountered Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler. As the two embraced, fans and onlookers got a glimpse of the NBA player donning a ‘Cameron Brink’ jersey.

Jimmy Butler was present at the Sparks game despite the fact that Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever was also playing in Washington DC at the same time. While Clark has been more prominence than Cameron Brink ever since their entry into the WNBA, the Miami Heat scorer made it clear where his loyalties lie. After all, how could he not come and support the same person who once admitted that he was her ‘NBA Crush?’

Jimmy Butler was not the only celebrity who was present to watch the 22-year-old and her teammates secure the win for LA. The Crypto.Com Arena also played host to New Orleans Pelicans small forward Trey Murphy III, USC head coach Eric Musselman, and comedian and former ‘Saturday Night Live’ cast member Leslie Jones. So many stars cheering them on may have been all that the Sparks needed to get their momentum back. Furthermore, with the rumors running around that Jimmy Bulter may end up heading to a Western Conference Team next season, he may be expected to turn up at more of such LA games.

Cameron Brink “Loves” Jimmy Butler, but probably not as much as Kevin Durant

Cameron Brink’s admiration for Jimmy Butler first became apparent during an interview that took place over three weeks ago. During a segment in which the WNBA player had to choose between two athletes from the men’s league, she kicked things off by choosing Victor Wembanyama over Anthony Edwards. However, once the Heat star appeared, there seemed to be no more competition.

After exclaiming “I Love Jimmy”, Brink proceeded to choose the 6x NBA All-Star over Shai-Gilgeous Alexander, Jayson Tatum, Damian Lillard, Devin Booker, Kyrie Irving and Joel Embiid. Both the interviewer and the interviewee had trouble controlling their laughs as Butler kept being selected each and every time. However, once Kevin Durant’s name came, he had to be put aside. She only swiped away the Suns star after the choice became between him and Stephen Curry, Brink’s godbrother.

Being a small forward like Butler, Cameron Brink would have taken up the NBA star as her source of inspiration during her early days as an aspiring player. While her top favourite player would continue to remain Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler certainly holds a high place on that list.
