Jimmy Butler’s breakup with the Miami Heat was quite similar to that of a toxic relationship. While everything was great in the beginning, things quickly went downhill once he admitted that he had lost his “joy.” Well, its time for Jimmy to meet his ex. He will return to Miami on Tuesday to face his former team for the first time since last month’s blockbuster trade. Jimmy, however, is treating it like ‘just another game.’
Well, the Warriors suffered a heartbreaking loss tonight in Atlanta as the Hawks beat them by nine points. Even Jimmy’s 25-point performance could not save them. After the game, Jimmy revealed his thoughts about facing the Heat on Tuesday, “Another game for me. Another game that we’re expected to win for sure. So, we better figure it out, figure it out very quickly.”
Instead of making it about him and the Heat, Butler is more focused on figuring out what went wrong tonight and helping the Warriors win the next game. When asked if he cared about the kind of reception he might get in Miami, Jimmy seemed unbothered, “Not really. Makes no difference. I’m a member of the Golden State Warriors.” However, he did express admiration for his former team’s fanbase, “I love that fanbase. They showed me a lot of love while I was there. But I’m there to win now. I’m on the opposing team.”

Reminiscing about his time with the Heat, Jimmy said, “We was alright. We didn’t win nothing like we were supposed to. We made some cool runs. We had some fun and I think that’s all we did.” During his over five-year tenure, Butler led the Heat to two NBA Finals and kept them in title contention every season. However, he claims it was nothing more than having some fun. While Butler seemed unbothered by his upcoming Heat reunion, Draymond Green had a contrasting take.
Draymond Green claims Heat clash is a “Big Game” for Jimmy Butler. Wants to win for him!
Once Jimmy made his stance clear about Tuesday’s game, Draymond was also asked about his expectations. The former DPOY said, “Gotta come to play. Come out and play defensively… You know we got Jimmy over here, I know this is a big game for him.” As much as Butler wants to deny it, everyone knows that whoever wins Tuesday’s game will have bragging rights over the other.

Sure enough, Green also understands that the Heat will come out to play as well, “They got Wiggs over there. I know it’s a huge game for him. So, just like we wanna win for Jimmy, they would wanna win for Wiggs. We gotta come out ready to play.” Of course, Andrew Wiggins would also be looking for redemption following his shocking trade.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Jimmy Butler truly over Miami, or is he just hiding his emotions for the big game?
Have an interesting take?
Many might think that it would be an easy win for the Warriors because the Heat are seeded tenth in the East and do not have a superstar to rely on. Also, they have lost ten straight games. However, Green believes these numbers will not matter on Tuesday and the Warriors need to bring their A game to Miami, “They’ve lost what ten games in a row. 6 or 7 of those games come down to 4 or 5 point games, last couple possessions… We know who the Miami Heat are – They play hard, disciplined. So, we gotta come out and play.” Whose side are you on?
