The Curry family made a huge announcement. Riley, Canon, and Ryan, Stephen Curry, and his wife Ayesha welcomed their fourth child, a son, on May 11. While the bundle of joy arrived two weeks ago, the couple waited to make the news public. But what caught people’s attention was the unique name they gave him. Naming him Caius Chai– Steph and Ayesha left the fans wondering what it meant. And showing signs of a little jealousy from Steph’s new Golf Digest photoshoot, Hall of Famer Charles Barkley hilariously mocked the newest Curry member.

During tonight’s Inside the NBA pregame show, Barkley revealed exactly what the name of Steph’s 4th child reminded him of, “Caius Chai? Sounds like a tea at Starbucks.” Famous and frequently made fun of by his co-panelists for his love of food, Chuck brutally compared the child’s name to a beverage.

While Barkley found the name unusual and funny, it actually has a deeper meaning than that.

Coming from Latin origin, “Caius” means “rejoice”. As for “Chai” which made Chuck think of a Starbucks beverage, the word is traced back to the Hebrew language meaning “life”. For all you know, maybe Sir Charles was just jealous of Steph’s recent golf exclusive and decided to take it out on Caius’ name.

Only a few hours ago, Steph starred in the latest issue of Golf Digest, where he dove into his future and how he plans on growing the sport after retirement. And when Ernie asked Barkley if he wanted to be on the cover like Steph, the Hall of Famer immediately mentioned Wyndham Clark, who was also in the magazine rather than addressing Steph.

Apart from being one of the greatest players in league history, Steph might also be the best golfer that has played in the NBA. But Steph is not the only player who has a passion for golf. From playing with Michael Jordan to now playing yearly at The Black Masters, Charles Barkley also has an undying love for the sport. And over the years, that has given rise to a friendly rivalry between Steph and Chuck.

At one point, Steph even made fun of Chuck’s awkward-looking golf swing, which constantly made rounds on social media. Wondering how Barkley went from playing decent in the 90s to having a horrible swing today, Steph said, “He just had a breakdown and some kind of mental lapse or forgot how to swing or forgot how to play. You see what it looks like now.”

Moreover, Steph also loves rubbing his 2023 American Century Championship and four NBA rings on Barkley’s face whenever he gets the opportunity, “I’ll just send him a picture of me with the American Century trophy and a ring on, and it’ll be cool.” While Barkley is the one who has been playing the sport for decades and has a lot of time to work on his skills, it is Steph who has achieved more accolades in that field despite being an active NBA player.

And with Chuck analyzing Steph’s newborn son’s name, it doesn’t look like their rivalry is going to end anytime soon.
