When it is the Boston Celtics, the bar is always high. They’re the ones who raised it, putting on a spectacular performance last season. But this time, they haven’t come close to that level. What’s missing? A sense of connection and rhythm. But not anymore. On Saturday night, they put on a special show that forced head coach Mazzulla to make a strong statement, one that sparked a reaction from Jayson Tatum.

Mesmerized by his team’s 131-104 victory, Mazzulla claimed that this was the most connected the squad has been. During the post-game locker room interview, when the adhesive of the group, Tatum, was asked about Mazzulla’s statement, he replied, “It’s probably up there. I think, from the start to the finish, even you know when they went on the run, we did a really good job of responding.”

Tatum, the six-time NBA All-Star, was satisfied with how the team played throughout the game, making the right decisions at every turn. “We didn’t we weren’t flustered or anything like that. And on both ends of the floor, we needed to stop, we did. When we got a rebound, we need to hit some shots. When we need to make the right reads, you know, we did all those things,” he added.

The Celtics certainly looked like the dominant squad, with Tatum leading the offense, delivering an outstanding game-high performance while staying on the floor for extended minutes. But what’s the secret behind his stamina? Jayson Tatum revealed it in the interview.

Jayson Tatum Reveals off-court preparation that helps him sustain longer stretches on-court

The Boston Celtics took the lead from the opening quarter and maintained it throughout the game, making it tough for the Knicks to catch up. The player who contributed most to the C’s success was Jayson Tatum, scoring 40 points. Going up against the New York squad isn’t easy but Tatum played for 37 minutes, hitting 13-of-26 from the field and 7-of-25 from deep.

However, spending an average of 36.3 minutes per night this season isn’t easy. There are behind-the-scenes efforts that help him sustain such a demanding workload. “I try to take care of my body as much as I can eat the right things, drink a lot of Gatorade, and take some naps,” Tatum said. While not everyone might be sold on the $198 million brand, Tatum happens to have a contract with Gatorade. So, when he had the chance to share his secret, he took the opportunity to do a bit of endorsement. That was indeed a smart move.

Anything that helps the team stay connected and keep pushing forward is beneficial, especially as their inconsistency has been a challenge this season. Maybe the rest of the squad could take a page out of Tatum’s book. It could make a difference for them too. What do you think of Jayson Tatum’s little secret?
