The Golden State Warriors are staring down a deep hole right about now. Inconsistency, frustrations, and pressure dot the dynasty. Between fans clamoring for Steve Kerr to step down, and to break up the band while Stephen Curry is still playing, the Warriors are in a real rut.
Amidst all this chaos, Kendrick Perkins finds a song that perfectly describes their situation. Joining NBA Today, Big Perk gets a little help from Jayson Tatum’s girlfriend, Ella Mai. Her song, Boo’d Up, sets the stage for his views on the team.
“Business and feelings don’t mix.” Perk thinks that the GSW needs to separate feelings from doing business. As long as the management keeps toying with the ‘what ifs,’ the team will continue to struggle. The Celtics legend believes that there might have been a time when their veteran core defined the Warriors dynasty. But as of now, “it’s time to break it up.”

This team, the veteran core of Green-Curry-Thompson, is the building block of the Warriors dynasty. Having to break apart this is like ripping apart a baby from its mother’s arms. That’s how much of a close relationship the Golden State has with their players.
The sensational rookie, Brandin Podziemski, had also given us a peek into their off-court relationship. Following their loss to the Mavericks in the final game of 2023, Podz mentioned their team probably is the “closest of friends” than any other team in the league. If only they could find that balance on-court, the Warriors wouldn’t struggle.
Going back to Perk; this is not the first time he’s made his “feelings” known about rebuilding the Warriors roster.
Perk is an advocate for ‘breaking the band’ of Stephen Curry and Co.
The ESPN analyst had taken to X (formerly Twitter) after the Warriors had yet another abysmal loss. The Dubs went 105 against the 141 Pelicans. Talk about being in for a rude awakening! The defeat was too much for everyone, including Steph, and his disappointment was apparent.

Seeing the dismal performance, Perk voiced his thoughts on the next course of action – “Break the band.” Of course, he wasn’t alone in his opinion. X was overflowing with comments on the same. His post also mentions another point – the fact that everyone is trying to find ways for the team to stay together.
But in another episode of the NBA Today, the 39-year-old once again brought some hard facts to attention. There is only so much load Chef Curry can carry. So, if the team still has to rely on the 4x champion to regularly drop 30 points to win a regular season game, then the Warriors are in deeper trouble than projected.
There have been more and more supporters for the whole Warriors rebuilding conversations. With the trade deadline fast approaching, the management will have to make a decision sooner rather than later. Hopefully, the decisions they make can bring some of the glory back to the dynasty!
