It seems like the Hawks will need to nurse a broken claw after their clash with the Boston Celtics. Trae Young unleashed a 33 points and 7 assists game. However, Dejounte Murray struggled, managing only 6 points, and shooting 2-13 from the field (0-6 from beyond the arc). On the other side, Jayson Tatum posted a game-high with 34 points; 21 of which came in the first half alone.

Despite outperforming the Celtics in overall three-point efficiency, the Atlanta Hawks faced offensive challenges at crucial stretches. With the Celtics limiting them to just 21 points in the fourth, the Hawks posted their lowest-scoring game of the season in a 103-113 loss.

Atlanta is feeling Dejountay Murray’s inconsistency. Earlier in November, Murray had displayed a surge in confidence; averaging nearly 25 points per game in the first six contests. However, in the last six games, his performance has dipped. From his last six games, Murray is averaging around 15 points; struggling to reach a 14-point mark in four of them.

On the Celtics side, reserve big man Neemias Queta capitalized on his second NBA game. Despite facing challenges in scoring, he contributed significantly to other aspects. In the absence of Kristaps Porzingis, the big man secured 10 rebounds for the team.

2. Hawks couldn’t capitalize on Boston’s ongoing problem

The Boston Celtics are one of the top teams in the league. However, they have displayed a dip in their caliber during the third quarter in multiple games. Their well-known struggle during this period is no secret in the league. Regardless, the Hawks failed to fully capitalize on this weakness.

By halftime, Atlanta found themselves trailing 69-53. In a recurring pattern, the Celtics failed, for the sixth time this season, to surpass the 22-point mark in the third quarter. Despite outscoring Celtics 29-21 during the stretch, the Hawks began the fourth with an 8-point disadvantage.

3. The Celtics crashed the board

After the recent rebounding in a loss against Orlando, the Celtics made sure to cover their bases; notching their season-high on boards. The most important ascent came on the offensive glass as they out-rebounded the Hawks 18 to 11. 13 of those rebounds came in the initial two quarters alone.

Although Neemias Queta contributed 10 boards in just 15 minutes, the Celtics showcased a collective effort. Al Horford, securing his 10th rebound in the third quarter, recorded a total of 15 rebounds. Derrick White and Sam Hauser also actively crashed the offensive glass, each adding two offensive boards. Additionally, Jaylen Brown grabbed 7 boards, while Tatum narrowly missed a double-double, garnering 9 boards of his own.
