Be careful what you wish for and Stephen A. Smith found that out sooner than anyone anticipated. His wish was a Jaylen Brown meet-up to clear all the ill feelings from the past and SAS got just that. After months of verbal back and forth between the duo, the two came face-to-face. But wait a minute! Their link-up absolutely took an unexpected turn as their fashion choice shockingly resonated.
In a picture posted by Stephen A. Smith, the analyst is seen with Jaylen Brown. The caption read, “Thanks for the gift…@FCHWPO”. And the gift? That’s the fun part as both of them were rocking the black t-shirt that had “State Your Source” written on it.

Do those words ring a bell? Those were the same words tweeted by Brown back in May after SAS made a bombshell revelation about the guard’s marketability. During an episode of First Take, the ESPN analyst quoted a league source saying, “It’s not so much that he’s underrated. It’s that he’s just not liked because of his, quote, I am better than you attitude. He knows it. It’s the same reason he is not as marketable as he should be. That’s what an NBA source just sent me.”

Stephen A also clarified it via a post on X after his latest meeting with Jaylen Brown. He wrote, “Yes, me and @FCHWPO talked about this today”. Brown also attended the renaming ceremony of North Washington Street Bridge to the William ‘Bill’ Russell Bridge earlier today. But looking at the background of the picture the meet-up seems to have happened at the TD Garden. And as it seems, their online heat has finally subsided.
Looking back at Jaylen Brown’s beef with Stephen A. Smith
Jaylen Brown did not forget Stephen A.’s marketability comments, be it him quoting a league source. During the Celtics Championship parade, JB wore that same t-shirt to indicate, he didn’t let it go. After that came his Olympics snub from Team USA which handed the 57-year-old with more substance to slander the NBA star. During one of the episodes of the Stephen A. Smith Show, he said, “I am saying those people out there whoever they are, pointed to likeability or lack of stubbornness, doing things his way. I had somebody telling me, don’t even know how true this is, they actually said to me, during the COVID-19 thing, he (Jaylen Brown) got a call from Obama, as in former President Obama, asking if he’d take the vaccine and he said No.”

Did Stephen A. Smith and Jaylen Brown just bury the hatchet with a fashion statement?
Have an interesting take?
Surely that reached Jaylen’s ears as well. So JB finally decided that he wants a face-to-face meeting with the ESPN anchor. “Some of the narratives kind of float, and I allow them to float. Going forward, I look forward to clearing up some misconceptions,” Brown stated during his recent appearance on the YouTube show, The Hot Ones. “Maybe me and Stephen A will have a sit down at some point,” he told the show’s host, Sean Evans.
After that, Stephen A. even openly wished for that to happen during an episode of First Take. SAS was confident that his words would get through JB, and he bore no personal feelings about him, wishing him nothing but success. Now, finally, everything looks settled between the pair and who knows, we might see SAS giving rave reviews to Brown after the games, as the season is just upon us.
