“Giannis is a child,” Jaylen Brown had said after falling for arguably the biggest trickster in the league now. No doubt you remember the hilarious instance. During the Celtics’ 113-107 win over Milwaukee, Antetokounmpo, after catching JB squarely with an elbow, received a technical. When the pair walked to the other end of the court, the ‘Greek Freak’ decided to pull a move from his bag of tricks – fake a handshake.
Needless to say, it wasn’t something the reigning Finals MVP appreciated. Of course, it definitely caught our attention, with a lot of “Goofy Dad” energy comments flowing in. But much like everything else, it was pushed to the back of the mind – but not for a certain $114 billion brand!
On Wednesday night, the Bucks went ahead and triumphed over the Pistons with a 127-120 overtime win. And leading the squad was none other than Giannis, who dropped a whopping 59 points to call it a night. Nike, being Nike, decided to take advantage of the moment and inserted themselves into what could be a blossoming feud between Brown and Antetokounmpo with a cheeky tweet: “Nothing childish about ’em. 59 for the Greek freak.”

Unsurprisingly, Jaylen Brown responded. He retweeted the sportswear apparel giant’s comment with one of his own. “Y’all got weird energy.” And that was all it took for fans to dive headfirst into the fray!
Jaylen Brown – Nike squabble sparks wide-spread laughter and draws a reaction from ex-Warrior
We are quite aware of the 28-year-old’s very public beef with Nike. Beginning with Jaylen Brown speaking up about the Kyrie Irving-anti semitism issue to the more recent Olympics dig, Jaylen Brown left no stone unturned. And now we have another incident to add to the series. Hilariously enough, Matt Barnes found himself lured into the battle of wills, as he commented with quite a creative twist.
“They want All the Smoke,” wrote the ex-Warrior, followed by a smoke emoji, essentially using his pod’s name – All The Smoke – to describe the atmosphere. His comment implies that Nike and Brown’s back-and-forth has escalated into a public showdown, with both sides willing to engage and stir reactions. By using his podcast name, Barnes adds a lighthearted, clever twist to his commentary, making it relevant while also promoting his own brand.

This next fan seems to know Nike’s psyche quite well, as he comments, “Nike Fina do a weird energy commercial,” followed by a bunch of laughing with tears emojis. Given Nike’s history of turning athlete moments or rivalries into memorable ad campaigns, this guy is joking that Nike might create an entire campaign with “weird energy” as the focus, poking fun at the back-and-forth with Jaylen. Cheeky!
Yet another fan seems to have a love for conspiracy theories. “A billion-dollar industry beefing with a single NBA player is weird. Definitely an agenda here,” they wrote, followed by a bunch of emojis. For one, they believe Nike’s actions are disproportionate for a brand of its size. The emojis, including the clown face, hand pointing, and the person raising both hands, add a sarcastic tone, implying that the footwear brand’s involvement in the issue is somewhat laughable or ridiculous, at this point.
The fan feels there may be an ulterior motive or agenda behind Nike’s actions, suggesting that the company is using this conflict for its own benefit, potentially to generate attention or stir up drama. Again, these are fan speculations.

“Bro ts wild asl [crying-a-river and folded hands emojis]……full opinion coming out December 17th, 2024 at 5pm EST,” commented another user, suggesting a sarcastic remark aimed at the drama surrounding Jaylen Brown‘s back-and-forth with Nike. The use of emojis also suggests they believe the situation is overly dramatic. Moreover, the latter part adds a humorous twist, as if to suggest that the fan’s opinion on the matter is so significant that it must be revealed at a scheduled time.
As the back-and-forth between Jaylen Brown and Nike continues to captivate fans, it’s clear that this “beef” has taken on a life of its own, sparking viral reactions and endless commentary across social media.
