Just as I thought there wouldn’t be any more reactions to the ‘Blockbuster’ Luka Doncic trade, here it is. Hopefully, the last one. There were multiple reasons behind the Mavs’ decision to trade the franchise guard out. It was more of an expulsion. Strangely, Nico Harrison cited the Slovenian star’s overweight as one reason for the trade. As the debate rages on, Jaylen Brown might as well have dropped comforting words for the 25-year-old. Meanwhile, Doncic still doesn’t seem to be having a good time.
The All-Star Weekend finally came to a close with plenty of drama over the last three days. Players across the country flew down to the Bay Area to partake in the festivities, except for one. It was the new LA Lakers guard, LukaMagic. He definitely missed Mac McClung’s dunks and the final-day action. Anyway, before we explore why he didn’t make it to the ASG, let’s hear what Jaylen Brown has in store for the star guard.
Brown was someone, who crushed Luka Doncic’s championship dreams in last year’s finals. It’s quite ironic to expect a comforting word from him. But in the NBA world, always expect the unexpected. So, last night, after the All-Star game, Jaylen Brown took up a few questions from the reporters. Out of which, a reporter threw a curve ball at him. He asked what was the “heaviest” Brown had ever been, highlighting Doncic’s overweight controversy.

Importantly, this question didn’t throw off the star forward, as he instantly responded, “This off-season probably was my heaviest. I was probably about 245. I am probably like 238 now.” While there isn’t any direct message in this confession to help Luka, there’s definitely something he could pick from this.
Brown revealed he lost around 7 lbs after the off-season. So, with the accusation of weighing around 270 lbs, the star guard could draw inspiration from his arch-rival to turn it around. However, the important question is, does he have the drive to do it?
As Luka Doncic skipped the All-Star Game, Brown expressed shock over the blockbuster trade
All the familiar faces were in the building last night except for Luka Doncic. The 5x All-Star couldn’t fetch himself an All-Star tag either this season, as he struggled with injuries. Despite not making it to the selection, the star guard’s absence adds more fuel to the already brewing conspiracy. We saw Doncic enjoying his time at the Lakers’ bench and even on the court in his last appearances, but there’s a claim that the 25-year-old was yet to come to terms with the shocking trade.

Moreover, last night, he didn’t just skip the All-Star game but also uploaded a story on his IG. In that picture, Luka Doncic seemed to be having a nice time by the pool, witnessing some European basketball action on a laptop. The point to note is, he wasn’t guilty of missing out on the festivities. This only leaves us with doubts about the Slovenian’s stay in the Lakers‘ fold.
What’s your perspective on:
Did the Mavs make a mistake trading Luka Doncic, or was it a necessary move?
Have an interesting take?
While we are shocked to know this, Jaylen Brown still didn’t seem to have come out of shock over the blockbuster trade. Speaking of it, he said, “It’s a crazy league man. I would have never thought Luka Doncic would get traded from Dallas. He is a generational talent and I’m sure the Lakers are going to enjoy it, but uh we’ll see how it plays out.”
So, on one hand, Brown seems confident about Doncic’s powerful return. On the other, the star guard doesn’t seem to have gotten into his comfort zone yet. What do you think of the Lakers’ future? Let us know in the comments.
