Did Jaylen Brown just prove he's the real MVP of the Celtics with that performance?

On Sunday, TD Garden witnessed Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown run riot, powering the Boston Celtics to a 109-107 victory over the Timberwolves. But for once, it was JB who stole the spotlight from JT. The 2024 NBA Finals MVP reminded everyone why he’s a cornerstone of Boston’s success. However, the Timberwolves broadcasters weren’t too thrilled about Brown’s dominance. They seemed a little rattled by his fiery performance, especially when Brown became the ‘hot one’ on the court, which clearly frustrated the opposition.

The Timberwolves announcers had a front-row seat to a shooting clinic from Celtics star Jaylen Brown. He knocked down five straight threes to start the game, leaving Minnesota’s broadcast duo stunned. “Jaylen Brown has not shot the ball good from outside the arc,” Jim Petersen said after Brown sank his first three. “You look at his shot chart, Michael, it is not good. It’s a lot of red and a lot of white.”

But as Brown kept scoring, Petersen couldn’t hold back. He fired off some of Brown’s career three-point stats, hoping to break his rhythm. However, JB remained unbothered and put out a 29-point game against the Wolves. Meanwhile, the disrespect didn’t sit well with the Celtics superstar. Do we have to remind you how blunt Jaylen Brown can be towards his detractors? Surely not!

He took to his X handle to send a 4-word message to Jim Petersen and Michael Grady: “Hating ass broadcast lol.”

Jaylen Brown is not just unstoppable on the court. Off the court, he’s equally lethal, but with his words! JB never holds back from expressing his mind over things that don’t sit well with him. The $106M worth superstar surely knows how to give it to his naysayers in his blunt style.

Jaylen Brown’s jab brings back memories of his back-and-forth with Nike

What’s your perspective on:

Did Jaylen Brown just prove he's the real MVP of the Celtics with that performance?

Have an interesting take?

Not too long ago, JB’s infamous “childish” comment on the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokoumnpo took an odd turn when Nike got involved. There is no secret about Brown’s hatred for the sportswear brand. Therefore, when the Greek Freak put a 59-point game vs. the Celtics, Nike took to social media to say: Nothing childish about ’em. 59 for the Greek freak.” It seems obvious that the brand, also Antetokounmpo’s sponsor, took a shot at Jaylen Brown.

JB, too, didn’t hold back, and within hours, he hit the nail a bit too hard. The Celtics superhero retweeted, “Yall got weird energy.” If anyone thought Jaylen Brown wouldn’t retaliate to the obvious, you’re simply wrong. However, this wasn’t his first back-and-forth with Nike. Their mutual dislike goes back in time (quite literally!). Previously, JB has called out the billion-dollar brand over its ethics in the business and openly called out the organization for having too much control over Team USA basketball.

Thus, Jaylen Brown is a force—on and off the court. Whether draining threes or clapping back at critics, he delivers with precision. From silencing broadcasters to taking on giants like Nike, JB never holds back. In Boston or beyond, his fire is unmatched.
