While Jaylen Brown was busy doing his job during last weekend’s road trip to Washington to face the Wizards, a criminal act happened at his mother’s home in Wellesley. Yes, burglars broke into Mechalle’s $8 million mansion while she and JB’s nephew were inside. Although no one was harmed in the ordeal, the shocking incident made Jaylen think about his family’s safety.

Finally breaking silence on the burglary, Jaylen Brown said after tonight’s Bulls encounter, “It’s been a tough week. My mother’s security is of utmost importance to me, and that’s been compromised. Thank God nothing serious or physical or threatening happened, but the fact that it could have just kind of lingers in your mind.” Well, the police found a broken window upon arrival, confirming the break-in attempt.

As per an officer, there were “multiple signs of forced entry” at the seven-bedroom mansion and video surveillance showed “three men in gray sweatshirts who were allegedly attempting to break in.” Moreover, this was not a one-off incident.

Several high-profile athletes have become victims of such thefts in recent months. Even Celtics assistant coach Amile Jefferson’s Newton had a similar issue. Although no one was home, the robbers took several valuables with them.

When reporters questioned Brown about these frequent incidents and how the team plans on dealing with them, he said, “I mean the Celtics have brought an information for us to kind of figure it out and make sure you know we can do our job when we travel and stuff. And I know it’s been going on in different parts of the world and in different parts of the US where you know similar things have happened to athletes. Hopefully, anybody who it hasn’t happened to yet just make sure that you have the things in place to make sure it doesn’t… It just makes you think about some things differently.”
