Bronny James’s debut performances at the Summer League isn’t earning him much love from Lakers fans. Unfortunately, that same feeling seems to have been developed by the Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown as well. While he was attending the recent Lakers vs Celtics Summer League matchup along with WNBA stars Kysre Gondrezick and Angel Reese, the 27-year-old made headlines after turning in their direction and allegedly stating “I don’t think Bronny is a pro.”

The rate at which the clip went viral and spread everywhere, it shouldn’t have come as a surprise for it to catch the attention of Jaylen Brown himself. The Finals MVP attempted to clarify what they might have seen by putting out a statement via X. In regards to the same, he stated, “It’s a flex to have your son alongside you in the NBA it reflects greatness and longevity! Bronny has all the tools around him to be successful. I look forward to watching his growth.”

But Brown’s critique of the 19-year-old didn’t stop with that one remark.

According to reports, Kysre Gondrezick responded to her rumored boyfriend’s statement by replying, “I think he’ll be on the G-League team, for sure.” To this, Brown allegedly responded, “I don’t think so, I think because of his name, he’ll be on the Lakers.”

Bronny James’s summer league debut kicked off with the player scoring only 4 points against the Sacramento Kings. He reached his All-Time high in a matchup against the Houston Rockets, which only went up to 8 points. The recent Celtics-Lakers matchup did not convince onlookers about any further improvement, as Bronny only made 2 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist in 21 minutes of playtime.

With the rookie falling far behind expectations, doubts continue to be raised on how far the player can go, or whether he will manage to play in the main group. No matter what happens, however, the 19-year-old would make his peace with any decision.

Bronny himself admitted to being in a “shooting slump” in a recent statement. While the Summer League allows him to grow and improve, the alleged brutal take from Jaylen Brown may confirm that LeBron James’s son has a long way to go to prove his worth.

Bronny James will welcome any assignment that comes his way

Jaylen Brown and Kysre Gondrezick’s alleged conversation had them questioning whether Bronny James is good enough to qualify for the Lakers’ main group. The Celtics allegedly seem to have been of the mindset. Judging from the young star’s performance, only LeBron James’s influence can further help him.

To Bronny’s credit, he is willing to accept any path that his hard work takes him towards.

In an interview with ESPN Staff Writer Dave McMenamin, the 19-year-old admitted, “I’m just looking forward to any basketball I play, no matter what level I’m playing at.” In his first three games, Bronny accumulated a combined score of 6-26 field goals, and 0-12 three-pointers. His combined 15 points were not enough to help out the Lakers, who lost all three games. This caused him to state in the same interview: “I just feel like I’m in a little slump right now.”

If this situation does not improve, the player could very well find himself heading to the G-League, unless Jaylen Brown’s alleged words bear fruit, and LeBron James does end up helping his son out.

In this trying time, many people, including LeBron himself, are asking people to not lose hope. In the aftermath of Bronny’s debut, the All-Time NBA Scorer admitted that one can’t take anything “stat-wise” during the Summer League. He emphasized the series as being a learning place for his son, where he can hone his skills before entering the main games.
