As many of you might already know, he currently serves as the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. But the two have a history that dates back to the historic 2011 NBA Finals when Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavs to their first championship ever. Kidd was also a crucial part of the squad.

Aside from Dallas, Jason also played for the Phoenix Suns, New Jersey Nets (now, Brooklyn Nets), and New York Knicks. Prior to taking the HC role with the Mavs, the man coached for the Nets, Bucks, and Lakers (assistant coach). According to Hoops Hype, Kidd made roughly $187 million as an NBA player, which, if adjusted for inflation, will come to $297 million.

During his playing days, the most lucrative Jason signed was in 2009 – $21 million – when he was part of the Mavs roster.

The former 10x All-Star was officially named as the 10th head coach of Dallas on June 28, 2021. The man didn’t wait too long to transition into coaching. Right after retiring in 2013, he joined one of his former teams, the Nets, for the 2013-14 season. Following this, he coached the Bucks from 2014 to 2018. The two periods saw him make a name for himself having led two teams to playoffs in his first two seasons as a head coach.

Although he stepped away from being the HC with the Purple & Gold, Jason Kidd still played a crucial role in their 2020 NBA championship. And soon, the Dallas Mavericks parted ways with their previous head coach, Rick Carlisle, following the 2020-21 season. The organization was looking for someone with a fresh perspective.

Needless to say, Kidd’s deep ties to the Mavericks—as a key player during their 2011 championship run and one of the NBA’s all-time great point guards—made him an attractive candidate. His experience developing young talent and championship pedigree also played into the selection.

Furthermore, his strong relationship with then-owner Mark Cuban and the front office’s belief in his ability to mentor Luka Doncic ultimately landed the gig.

What are Jason Kidd’s endorsements?

Off the court, Jason capitalized on his popularity with several lucrative endorsement deals. During his playing career, he partnered with Nike, famously wearing the Zoom Flight 95 sneakers as a member of the Nets. The 6’4 ex-guard also endorsed brands like Gatorade, American Express, and Sony’s PlayStation. Later, he collaborated with Chinese sneaker brand, PEAK, which released three signature models during the 2010s.

Kidd is also a co-owner of the Oakland Roots Sports Club and its counterpart, the Oakland Soul, a women’s soccer team. Alongside notable co-owners like Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and NFL legend Marshawn Lynch, Kidd has helped develop soccer’s profile in Oakland, including efforts to build a new 10,000-seat stadium.
