The Dallas Mavericks were already having a pretty tough time with injuries and then they went on to trade Luka Doncic. Even Jason Kidd, Mavs Head Coach wasn’t aware about it and it must’ve messed up all his plans. The Mavs tough times continue. Losing to the Kings in overtime was painful enough, but the chaos off the court made things even uglier. Fans furious over the Luka Doncic trade weren’t shy about showing their frustration, and some even got kicked out of the arena.
Then came the injuries. Daniel Gafford went down with a knee issue, adding to a growing list of sidelined players. Dereck Lively was already out, and Anthony Davis—who got hurt in his debut—has people wondering if the team rushed him back too soon. Plus the 51-year-old Coach was a no-show for his postgame interview. That’s a big no-no under NBA Media Availability rules, which require head coaches to speak with reporters.
Finally he has broken his silence on the matter before they take on the Warriors. “Let me just clear up the air a little bit about the post meeting. Just understanding a lot goes on,” Kidd said.

Kidd admitted he needed time to gather himself before speaking.
“I felt bad. I was, like, thank you for your grace in the NBA for their grace of the situation,” he continued. “We lost a tough game. We lost another player, so I just needed some time to regroup it and refocus. And figure out how to and figure out how to put these pieces back together. So, I want to thank you.”
A reporter joked that Kidd might have just wanted a break from seeing the same faces, but he quickly shut that down, assuring them it wasn’t the case. He acknowledged the media’s role, emphasized his respect for their work, and explained that he simply needed a moment to regroup after a tough loss.
Jason Kidd said he “needed a minute to regroup” when talking about why he didn’t attend his postgame press conference on Monday night.

With nothing going right for Dallas, Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser, both ESPN analysts believe that there may be a fallout between the Mavs and Coach Kidd.
“I just talked to Jason Kidd a week ago… and the Mavericks knew they were in a tough position with their bigs getting hurt,” Wilbon said on PTI on ESPN. “They need Anthony Davis back, and a month may not be enough again, dire.”
Wilbon praised Kidd, saying, “If Jason Kidd leaves Dallas, I’d hire him in a heartbeat.”
Kornheiser, however, pointed to growing turmoil. “I didn’t say fire him. I said he may not want to be there,” he said. “There’s an open fan revolt. Nobody wants to play for them now.”
As things look bleak in Dallas, Kyrie Irving has been publicly supporting his coach and GM Nico Harrison.

Kyrie Irving went from playing second fiddle to Luka Doncic to being the Mavericks’ go-to guy overnight. With Doncic gone, Irving now carries the bulk of the scoring and playmaking load. The Mavs brought in Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and Caleb Martin, but injuries have already derailed their impact.
Naturally, fans are furious with GM Nico Harrison and head coach Jason Kidd for the trade. But Irving made it clear he’s backing them.
“My goals are set in stone. I’ve let everybody around me know what my goals are to create a better environment for me… When you have Kidd and Nico doing their things behind the scenes, making sure we’re a good group personality-wise, makes my job a lot easier to go out and lead this group.”
Some think that means he helped push Doncic out. But the 5x All-Star’s actions tell a different story—he unfollowed the Mavs, Harrison, and Kidd, but not Irving.

“Just really shocked and you just don’t imagine you’re going to get ready to go to sleep and then you find out news like that. It’s still a grieving process right now. I miss my hermano.”
At 28-25 and sitting eighth in the West, Dallas needs a spark. Last season, they caught fire in February and rode that wave to the Finals. But with Irving battling a back injury and Davis already hurt, it’s fair to ask—how much more can Kyrie take?
