Anthony Davis’ shocking move to Dallas caused a lot of buzz among Mavs fans. Losing Luka Doncic must not have been easy. Even so, the Dallas faithful wait with bated breath to see the first of their ‘brand-new Center’ in home colors. Well, head coach Jason Kidd had finally given us an update regarding his injury status ahead of the Mavericks’ game against the Celtics.

Not long ago, AD had an incredible performance against the defending Champs. He dropped 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists as the Lakers thrashed Boston 117-96. Sadly, it doesn’t seem like such a performance is on the cards tonight. Anthony Davis is OUT against the Celtics. However, coach Kidd is optimistic about his chances of playing in Saturday’s game against the Rockets.

Anthony Davis continues to recover from the abdominal injury that he suffered at the end of January. However, Dallas Mavericks fans seem to be growing increasingly frustrated with the move that saw Luka Doncic join the Los Angeles Lakers. And to cap off the Mavs’ fanbase’s frustration, it was announced that the Mavericks are getting booted off national TV.

Yes, the Dallas side’s game on Feb 21 against the Pelicans will no longer be televised on ESPN, per Mike Curtis. The game between the Wolves and the Rockets will now take over that game’s slot! Quite a kick in the teeth for Dallas fans as they await AD’s debut.

Speaking of which, fans have wondered where he’ll slot into the Kidd-led team ever since he’s been signed for them. And now that Jason Kidd has revealed he’ll be a power forward, let’s see what AD himself has to say about this.

Anthony Davis confirmed the position he’ll play for the Dallas Mavericks

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Mavericks make a mistake trading Luka for AD, or is patience the key here?

When Dallas Mavericks GM, Nico Harrison, revealed the motivation behind AD’s signing, Dallas fans were horrified. The Mavs GM cited wanting an All-Defensive ‘center’ among their ranks. And this was what scared the fanbase so much. Anthony Davis has often said he DOES NOT prefer to play in that position. After all, he even admitted to this on national TV during the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Show.’

But Mavs fans, you can be rest assured. Anthony Davis will be filling the power forward role at the Dallas Mavericks. “I think I’m going to be playing a lot of [power forward],” he said. With Jason Kidd now also corroborating AD’s claims, it seems as if him being the Mavs’ new power forward is all but confirmed. But it doesn’t mean that this is not subject to change depending on how it pans out.

Davis continued, “Gaff (Daniel Gafford) has been playing phenomenal. So I think that’s the plan. But we will see how that goes.” So there we have it, straight from the horse’s mouth.

Anthony will be playing his preferred position at the Mavericks. And Gaff, who’s having a great season, will be playing as the team’s big. He’s averaging 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and shooting at 69.9% clip as Dallas’ big man. So we don’t see AD displacing him anytime soon, barring injury.

That said, the Mavericks aren’t having the best run lately. They are without a direct playoff spot, sitting 8th in the Western Conference. Now, after this latest NBA snub, they will have a huge chip on their shoulder. This is why Anthony Davis’ debut for the Dallas Mavericks is setting up to be absolute fireworks. We certainly won’t miss it, and neither should you!
