Jared McCain, the 16th overall pick from this year’s draft will join a dynamic trio of PG13, Maxey, and Embiid on the Sixers. However, the welcome party came early for the former Blue Devil as he recently met with Paul George on his pod. Now, the younger generation is set to take over the league, and names like ANT, Luka, and Haliburton have already shown glimpses of the future. But with the newer generation comes the modern pop culture which associates the hoopers with the ever-booming rap industry, more than ever.
Players often hang out with big-time artists and even show interest in releasing their own tracks or even diss tracks, as we saw Jaylen Brown taking a dig at Nike. Nevertheless, one of the most noteworthy events in the music industry in recent history has been Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef. The two big-time rappers went back and forth releasing several diss tracks to settle the hate. However, the narrative slowly shifted to how the Americans sided with KDot whereas others supported the Canadian veteran. But not Jared McCain.
The rookie is more inclined toward Drake than Kendrick. He explained, “I used to sing like, in front of everybody, I did, like I sing Pharrell sometimes and some Drake, shoutout Drake, that’s the GOAT. Let’s get a round of applause for Drake…”

“I mean, yeah I don’t got to go into Drake but that’s my guy. I was at the concert when Kendrick was opening up for him. “, McCain continued on Podcast P. Of course, McCain was true to himself, but KDot might have got the last laugh out of the beef.
Kendrick Lamar’s last diss on Drake, ‘Not Like Us’ topped the Billboard Top 100 and has over 500 million streams on Spotify! Nevertheless, Jared McCain’s brother was the person who got him into listening to Drake’s songs more than any other artist. But looking back at the beef, the Sixers rookie is not alone when he says he sides with Kevin Durant’s best music industry pal.
Jared McCain joins Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and a major bandwagon
Players like Steph and KD have been close friends with Drake and may have sided with him during this beef. However, while the Slim Reaper never revealed if he was picking sides, letting his actions speak louder, Steph told GQ, “I’m a big Drake guy. I’ve been for a long time. I think obviously you know what it is for the rap industry to have that, but I still rock with Drake. Absolutely.” Team USA also played ‘Not Like Us’ after winning their exhibition game against Canada, which was a massive dig on the native rapper.
Back in July, Drake showed his allegiances to three NBA stars, out of the blue. While nobody was expecting any action or reaction from either side the Canadian rapper posted three separate pictures of Steph Curry, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Kevin Durant!
On the other hand, coming back to the present, PG seemed to be a big KDot fan as seen by his reaction. He’ll surely share a different music taste with rookie Jared McCain as the two will likely get along well in Philly. It will be intriguing to see if the young gun ever changes his mind on his pick for the GOAT.
