After days of staying away from the team, James Harden finally showed up to join the Philadelphia 76ers. Harden, who had been a problem for the team this offseason, continued to do so after being absent for 10 straight days from the organization. And now, due to his airport embarrassment, the team may be under investigation.

After being away from the team and the organization for 10 days, James Harden showed up at the airport to join the team for their season-opening road trip. Only to be sent back by team officials. So, why is the league investigating the Sixers?

James Harden was not happy when he requested a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Los Angeles Clippers. When those trade talks did not go through, Harden took it upon himself to make matters worse in Philly.

This included him being away from the team during the preseason games and showing up the day the team was leaving for their season-opening road trip. But he was eventually asked not to travel with the team and sent back.

According to ESPN’s Michael Bass, a league spokesperson said, “We are looking into the facts around James Harden’s availability tonight to determine whether an approved reason exists for his lack of participation.”

The league has been cracking down on star player’s availability for nationally televised games. And when the 76ers decided to ask Harden to stay back in order to get back into shape, the league decided to step in and launch an investigation.

Harden’s future does not seem bright with the 76ers

James Harden seemingly wanted to travel with the team for their games in Milwaukee and Toronto. However, seeing how he was out of shape, head coach Nick Nurse asked him to stay back and try to get into shape for their future matchups.

The last game that Harden played was on October 8, a preseason game against the Boston Celtics. The league has a player participation policy that allows players to be absent from games due to injury, personal reasons, and ‘rare and unusual circumstances.’
