Jamal Murray flexes his agility mid-game! Even though the Denver Nuggets star looks a bit rusty on the court with his shooting this season, he doesn’t seem to have lost the form that he learned inside the Octagon. During tonight’s NBA Cup match-up against the Dallas Mavericks, Bubble Murray left ESPN’s Doris Burke and the NBA world in bewilderment with his quick hands. The man caught a fly mid-game and dropped it safely at the courtside. Maybe thanks to UFC star Alexander Volkanovski for the training!
In a visual shared by ESPN, Murray can be seen dropping the fly safely in front of Burke, who was calling the game. Notably, the fly was alive when the star guard dropped it, as per one of the announcers. Moreover, speaking of the uncanny situation, the 59-year-old reporter added value to the baller’s skill, saying, “He just passed me a fly… It’s that mixed martial arts unbelievable training that his dad gave him as a kid .”
While we don’t have enough sources to back Doris Burke’s claim that Jamal Murray‘s dad trained him in MMA, we have solid evidence of where he might have learned it. It’s Alexander Volkanovski. Last year, the former featherweight champion battled it out in a friendly competition. Not to forget that Murray impressed everyone when he held the ground, didn’t tap out for Volkanovski’s rear-naked choke, and waited until the time ran out.

Nevertheless, heading back to the Nuggets star’s ninja move, fans were all over the comments sections, churning out hilarious reactions. Let’s take a look at a few of them.
Jamal Murray leaves the NBA world spellbound with his fly-catcher move
It’s not often fans find something unusual apart from basketball happening in the NBA world. Tonight, Jamal Murray balanced it out with his quick reflexes. A fan reacting to the incident wrote, “FLYING HIGH! Jamal Murray’s got skills on and off the court! Who knew he’d be handing out flies to Doris Burke? Only in the NBA!” Well, to be honest, it’s not just Murray, even former Spurs star Manu Ginobili has done something similar.
A fan also didn’t forget to mention it, quoting the ESPN announcer, “Ginobili catches bats, Murray catches fly.” In 2009, a bat entered the arena during the game between the Spurs and Kings, bothering the game. The Spurs star didn’t waste any time, as he knocked the bat out mid-air and disposed of it off the court.

Another fan, probably disappointed with the Nuggets comeback from the big comeback in the second half, wrote, “Bro can do that but not miss a free throw Crazy work.” Well, Murray took two free throws and knocked down both of them. However, as a shooter, Murray had yet another disappointing game, shooting with a 4-16 FG.
A few other fans took the privilege to crack a light-hearted banter, saying Murray did this to impress Doris Burke. A fan wrote, “Jamal Murray with the slick assist… to Doris Burke?! What a move!” Well, in that sense, Burke did seem to be impressed with the move, as he even went on to praise Murray’s childhood training with his dad. What do you make of the hilarious act?
