The Houston Rockets have been putting their talents on a banner. The squad is taking control of their 2023-24 season fate behind an 11-game winning streak. Their unique blend of vet and raw talent is spearheaded by the 22-year-old Jalen Green. The shooting guard, through the previous 11 games, is averaging 30.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists, marking the most significant run of his career.

Now, with 9 games left in their season, the team battles for a Play-in spot with the Golden State Warriors. However, for Green, that is not the only thing going on. On March 8, Women’s Day, Green’s girlfriend Draya Michele announced that she is expecting a baby with the third-year shooting guard. While Jalen Green initially refrained from disclosing any details, he recently credited his family and his baby for his newfound surge.

While Green’s statement ends the bulk of ongoing debates around Draya, comedian and former cornerback Lou Young radiated that Jalen already has a child. Talking about Green’s recent performances, Navv Greene on the BROKEN PLAY podcast humorously quipped, “he is on a ridiculous run bro… I told y’all that n***a needs to have more kids.” To that, Young chipped in by saying, “allegedly, they say one is already here.

The crew did not dive deep into Young’s remarks. However, Young used the speculation to cite Green’s source of motivation. The cornerback claims that due to inconsistent rest at home, Jalen Green is forced to channel his energy on the court. “This man been sleeping next to newborn baby so he getting no rest. He irritated so he coming on a vengeance.” With that, the crew applauded the timing of Jalen’s burst. They delved into Green’s ongoing contract, which enables him for an extension in the coming offseason.

Starting in 2021, Green agreed on a 4 year – $40,808,448 contract and has ventured long in his individual journey. Currently the best player on the roster, Green was once a constant in Houston’s trade rumors.

Looking at Jalen Green’s recent 11-game surge

The Rockets want to experience the playoff this year, and Green is their last best to do so. In the initial 62 games of the season, Green averaged just 18.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists with only 8 30-point games by his name.

However, since the March 8 win against the Portland Trail Blazers, Green has surpassed the 30-point mark five times, scoring above 40 twice. Moreover, he takes on most of the offensive load for the Rockets, filling the void left by Alperen Sengun’s season-ending right knee bone bruise.

Green welcomes the added responsibility by increasing his on-ball tenure on the court, all while being one of the most efficient shooters on pull-ups. Now, with their latest win against the Utah Jazz, the Rockets will face the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves in their next 2 contests; testing Jalen’s ability to maintain his spark.
