Jalen Brunson had a historic night as the Knicks cooked the Phoenix Suns tonight. Claiming victory over the Suns with a 139-122 victory, New York hits 130+ points for the second time. Brunson scored a career-high 50 points that enabled them to take the edge over Phoenix.
As is common in any remarkable night, Brunson wanted to keep the game ball and if not for Julius Randle, it wouldn’t have been possible. When asked about it, he had a diplomatic answer.

“No comment,” was Brunson’s subtle answer when asked about his views on Julius holding on to the game ball for him. Suffice it to say that Jalen might have dodged a bullet right there. Or else, it would have been Giannis Antetokounmpo all over again.

The Bucks vs Pacers game on Wednesday was the famous game ball altercation. Giannis and Milwaukee wanted the game ball for the Greek’s 64-point, historic performance. The Pacers, on the other hand, wanted one for teammate Oscar Tshiebwe, who had scored his first official NBA point.
In a dramatic turn of events, Giannis was seen running from the court toward the Pacers’ locker room to find the game ball. Many people reacted negatively to this, but unless someone is in the position of Giannis, they cannot fully comprehend his heavily charged emotional reaction.
Anyway, if not a replica, something along those lines would have happened tonight vs the Knicks.
Brunson stays grounded despite making it into the list of legends
The first Knicks player to get 50 points while landing nine threes, Jalen Brunson didn’t engage in any over-the-top celebration. He had a simple smile on his face when he called the win “cool.” The 27-year-old was more invested in keeping this rhythm going forward.

Talking to MSG’s Mike Breen immediately after the game conveys his thought process. “We have to continue to get better. Everyone was on the same page and we have to continue to stay on that page,” he explained. Aside from being the first-timer in the franchise, he also made his mark among the legends.
Brunson is the fourth player in the history of the NBA to have 50 points, five rebounds, five assists, and five steals. The others are Rick Barry (1974 & 1975), Michael Jordan (1988), and Anthony Davis (2016). Yet, all Brunson had to say was that he was “happy about the win”.
