The New York Knicks snatched the victory from the hands of the Miami Heat on Friday night. The 2023 runners-up dominated the game from the beginning until Knicks’s franchise leader, Jalen Brunson, decided to counterattack. Following the impressive comeback from 21-point deficit in the last quarter of the game, Brunson had an unusual motivator, whom he credited for fueling the points outburst.

With the Friday night victory, the Knicks have kept their hopes alive in the In-season Tournament. Before stepping into their third game, the team has lost both their games. Stepping in to the fourth quarter, the Knicks trailed by 16 points. While it seemed like the Heat would seal the game with ease, the Knicks channelized their domination at both ends of the court. The Miami side could only score 11 points in the last quarter, whereas the NY side dropped 29 points.

Immanuel Quickley and Jalen Brunson produced 8 points each in the last quarter and led the team with 20 and 24 points for the win. Notably, JB pitched in with a few clutch free throws .

Following the victory, Brunson credited a fan from the courtside for the team’s fierce comeback at the deep end of the game. During the post-game interview, the interviewer asked Brunson, the motivating factor behind the 21-point resurgence. He simply credited the fan. JB said, “Honestly, a fan looked at me in my eye over here and said ‘This is embarrassing.’ So I’ll say him.” Importantly, this win kept the Knicks alive in the In-season tournament.

Following the victory, the Knicks currently stand second in the East Group B with 18 PD. The team has to win the remaining two games with high margin to have an upper hand against the Bucks, as they have 39 PD.
