Ja Morant has faced intense scrutiny over the past year. This comes after his viral social media clips led to suspensions of 8 and 25 games. The eight-game suspension came in the previous season, however, the 25-game absence was credited for the start of the 2023 campaign. The suspension contributed to the Memphis Grizzlies starting 6-19 in Morant’s absence. However, with his return to the court, the team aims to embark on a winning streak. Unfortunately, Morant recently found himself in another controversy while being criticized for a gesture.

Apart from his dunks, Morant is known for his one-of-a-kind celebrations. After a lob, Morant celebrated by performing the ‘Rock Ya Hips’ dance. However, many individuals unfamiliar with the moves mistakenly interpreted Morant’s actions as a gun-related motion.

Furthermore, he reassured that the Grizzlies will commit to shielding their superstar from toxicity, asserting, “We are wrapping our arms around him and not letting any of that negativity affect us.”
