We can only imagine what the Memphis Grizzlies might be going through now. After starting the season missing their star player, Ja Morant, it was with great excitement that they welcomed him back. With his arrival, the team looked alive and ready to throw some punches. But a Saturday practice session left Morant with an injured shoulder.

And the subsequent report broke a heartbreaking news – Ja Morant will be out for the rest of the season. Not sure how else to express his sorrow and disappointment, the young guard wraps up his emotions with just two words – “da*n dawg”.

The Grizzlies had just managed to get out of their rut, holding the 13th place in the Western Conference with a 13-23 record. The doctors diagnosed his injury as a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Averaging 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 8.1 assists in the nine games (6 were a win!) he’s played, it’s clear just how much of an impact Morant had in the short period he took the floor.

The franchise is already without another key piece, Steven Adams, as he has been announced to be out for the season. And now, they will have to go back to relying on Marcus Smart, Desmond Bane, and Derrick Rose.

After being suspended for brandishing firearms on social media, Morant had shared similar messages. It proved that Ja was indeed reflecting on his wrongdoings, while fully taking responsibility for his actions. And the above post goes to show just how much he has grown.

Given that he is just 24 years old and shouldering the weight of leading a franchise admirably, the 2x All-Star has been a recipient of much love from veterans and analysts as well. From former champion Stephen Jackson to LeBron James, Ja Morant has received heartfelt messages and admiration.

Veteran analyst Stephen A. Smith’s “with being a superstar, comes super responsibility,” is probably the most notable advice. With so many people rooting for Ja, there is no doubt that he will stay positive and come back stronger for the next season!
