As the clock continues to run out for Stephen Curry, will the front office find any help for the superstar? Not very long ago, the Golden State Warriors made winning look easy. It almost seemed never-ending. Three years after their 2022 championship, the team is far away from tasting the victory ever again. Notably, the team still has its 2x MVP, and 1x Finals MVP on the roster. Interestingly, Steph along with former Dubs superstar Andre Iguodala had warned the team about this situation three years back.

Let’s have a summary of what happened three years ago. It was the 2021-22 season. After the 2019 Finals misery, the Warriors finally had life with a healthy roster. The team managed to run it back without Kevin Durant, winning their 4th ring in Steph-Kerr era

Following that, Andre Iguodala seemed to have had a disagreement with the management regarding the team’s mentality over the players. In fact, the Dubs legend, alongside the man himself, Stephen Curry, warned about the team’s impending crisis.

Featuring in the Point Forward podcast, Iggy said“My thing is, they really do be thinking, it’s them and not us… I tell Joe (Lacob) like, ‘Yo Joe, you’d be walking around fam like, ‘Because I did this’ and like they got this narrative now, you know we got a championship squad and then they gonna do another one at the same time that’s coming right after us. ‘I’m like man, y’all know how hard it is? Man.” Adding to it, Steph said, “People that are here like how hard it is to win in this league.”

Moreover, Iggy didn’t stop at that. He added, “We made it look so easy that they think it’s like, ‘Oh, we about to do it again’. I’m like, ‘Alright we kind of waiting for six years to come’.” While Iguodala gave a 6-year warning, the team seemed to have arrived at the spot within 2 seasons.

Stephen Curry subtly calls for help

It’s high time the Warriors get the superstar necessary players around him to win the 5th ring. During the 2024 off-season, Klay Thompson walked away from the side and the team in response roped in Buddy Hield, De’Anthony Melton, and Kyle Anderson. While it looked impressive in the beginning with a 12-3 start, now, everything seemed to have fallen apart. Hield’s numbers have gone down drastically and Melton suffered a season-ending injury and the team ultimately traded him out as well.

Amid this situation, the Dubs have fallen to the 8th seed with an 18-17 record from topping the West. Moreover, in the last game, they suffered yet another blowout loss, this time against the Sacramento Kings. Speaking to the media after the loss, Stephen Curry said, “So when you’re looking up and it’s… double-digit lead before the first timeout and 36-21 like we’re not really built for, especially with the situation like to have that crazy comeback.”
