Unlike most players who don’t prefer responding to trolls on social media, Kevin Durant doesn’t shy away from good online banter with fans. Especially during the off-season, @easymoneysniper becomes extra active on socials, giving the NBA world some of the most hilarious moments. And KD struck once again after a fan suggested him to follow in LeBron James’ footsteps and bring a title to OKC. However, KD has been warned against doing that by Rashad McCants, who urged him to stay put.

Criticized for joining a 73-win Warriors team after getting eliminated by them in the playoffs, KD has yet to gain the respect of many fans. So, one fan suggested that the only way for him to redeem his legacy is if he returns to the Thunder and leads them to their first title, just like LeBron did in Cleveland after returning from Miami. “Then all his sins will be forgiven,” the fan wrote, tagging Durant. However, KD didn’t seem too intrigued by the idea and responded, “U ain’t God. Go get ready for work.”

Addressing the viral exchange on The Gil’s Arena Podcast, Rashad McCants believed returning to OKC might not be the right move, “You move again, it’s a sin.” Switching teams again would mean that KD is still chasing an invisible ghost to redeem his legacy, despite having won two rings. Instead, McCants believes he should enjoy and end his career in Phoenix, “You just need to chill and retire… Leave it all there.” Even Gilbert Arenas seemed to agree, claiming that Durant doesn’t have any real ties with OKC like LeBron did with Cleveland. Drafted by the Sonics and not even his hometown, KD might not owe OKC anything like many fans believe.

Is Phoenix the final stop for Kevin Durant?

Ever since KD left the Warriors five years ago, he has not had any significant success. Yes, he has made the All-Star team every year, but his teams have struggled in the postseason and come nowhere close to winning a title. Even this season, Mat Ishbia and the Suns’ fans had a lot of hope after they formed the lethal trio of KD, Booker, and Beal. But they crashed out in the first round with a humiliating sweep. And while McCants wants KD to stay in Phoenix, there is a chance that he might get traded to another team.

Already over the second apron of the luxury tax and unable to sign free agents because of lack of financial freedom, the Suns might need to shed some of their salary in the form of one of their star players. While Booker is most likely safe because he is a homegrown star, KD and Beal’s future might be uncertain. And that could mean another failed destination for KD, which could hurt his legacy more. More importantly, there were reports that Durant wasn’t very comfortable with his role this season and had a problem with how the offense was being run. All these issues might lead to Durant getting traded and being forced to find a new home somewhere else.
