Teenage sensation Victor Wembanyama made his Summer League debut in front of a packed house at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas recently. While the youngster had a very sluggish start to the game, he showed signs of his promise as he helped the San Antonio Spurs beat the Charlotte Hornets.

However, NBA fans weren’t too kind to him. But to Wembanyama’s aid, the highest-paid Knicks player revealed his own experience in the Summer League to console the player’s spirit.

Highly regarded by the NBA pundits as an emerging talent, Victor Wembanyama had trouble keeping up with his opponents’ strength and agility during his debut game. He missed all but one of his first eight shots due to his poor shooting.

Despite his difficulties, he was able to save face with a late 3-pointer that received thunderous applause from the audience. However, the highlight of his draft night remained Kai Jones’ thunderous dunk on Wembanyama, which received plenty?of criticism.

Even though ‘Wemby’ is a talent to look out for, he is still stepping into uncharted territory. The player is most likely to get met with criticism rather than appraisal in the future. Meanwhile, amidst all the criticism he faced for his play, the highest-paid New York Knicks player came to his defense.

How true is Brunson’s sincere tweet?

Jalen Brunson’s performance in the Summer league wasn’t as polished as one could hope. Set to receive $26 million in the 2023-2024 season, he averaged seven points, three rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 23 minutes of action across the first three games. These figures may at first glance seem respectable, but his shooting accuracy?which was at a dismal 19 percent?was the true cause for alarm.

And as for the French power forward, it might be too early to judge how he will do. His addition to the Spurs roster has revitalized the team’s defense. Wembanyama’s shot-blocking skills and commanding presence have the potential to elevate the team’s defensive performance to a level unseen in previous seasons.
