The Phoenix Suns are competing hard to bag a higher seed in the stacked Western Conference before the playoffs begin. Kevin Durant and Co. are currently seeded 6th with a 46-32 record. But their position is not safe as several teams are lurking behind to take their spot. To add more firepower amid the heated playoff race, the Suns have decided to complete guard Isaiah Thomas’ NBA comeback by solidifying his spot on the roster.
After completing two 10-day contracts, the Suns reportedly plan to sign Isaiah Thomas for the remainder of the season. Since joining the Suns on March 20, Thomas has provided them with backcourt depth, strong leadership, and a veteran’s presence in the locker room. And that could prove crucial in the playoffs.

His comeback story began on March 6th after he joined the Utah Jazz’s G League team, the Salt Lake City Stars. Thomas balled out during his brief stint in the G League, averaging 32.5 points, 5.3 assists, and 1.3 steals. He also shot a whopping 44.6% from the three-point line. After playing 4 games for the SLC stars, the Phoenix Suns signed Thomas on a 10-day contract on March 20. Thomas made his Suns debut the same night against the Philadelphia 76ers, going scoreless in the 2 minutes he was on the court.
The Suns then signed Isaiah Thomas on another 10-day contract on March 29. The 2-time All-Star has played 4 games since joining the Suns. He is averaging 1.2 points and 0.5 assists. Thomas has not got much playing time in the last 20 days, but the Suns’ latest plan suggests they would get him on the court more often. Although IT is no longer the star he once was, his playoff experience can help Kevin Durant and Co. win some crucial games. Thomas has played in 25 playoff games in his career, averaging 22.6 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.1 rebounds.
